    Question regarding purchase of firearm

    Hey guys,
I was just curious if anyone had any experience with having a gun store order a firearm online for you. I was planning on ordering am AR lower. I spoke to a person at Reed's Indoor Range and they said their transfer fees were $150 + DROS, but they said they could order it and I wouldn't have to pay the transfer fees. I was curious if anyone knew the mark up they put on it or would it just be better to find a place with cheaper transfer fees. Also, I posted it here because I figured it may be specific for the area. Any advice would be fantastic.

    Thanks!

150$ + dros is kind of a ripoff, San Jose Gun Trader does it for 75$ including dros and are great to work with. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=664223 is their thread here

When a shop charges $150 that's basically their way of telling you "we don't want to do transfers."

You'll probably be better off going somewhere with cheaper transfers.

If they're telling you that they can order it directly without transferring anything, why not go that route? That being said:

Search the world's information, including webpages, images, videos and more. Google has many special features to help you find exactly what you're looking for.

+2 for SJ Gun Trader, used them a couple times and all went smoothly. Just purchase the gun online yourself and transfer to SJ Gun Trader. Give them a call and they will help you out. Just do your homework before purchase to make sure it's CA legal.

I was talking to guy at Eddy's Shooting Sports in Mountain View the other day about this. He said he does transfers 2 days a week. $75 seems to be the least anyone can charge, and Reed's is basically shirking their responsibility to do transfers by charging extra and hoping nobody will go along with it. Apparently transfers are not the only thing Reed's overcharges for? I'm getting a generally bad taste in my mouth about Reed's since I started looking into getting back into shooting after a long break. I ordered my Glock from Eddy's. His family has been in this business for decades (they went out of business for about ten years during the time I was not shooting). They were always good to me in the past, and he remembered me when I went in last week. I feel pretty good about supporting the small fry who has my back. Not to mention I'm not talking to a different guy every time I go there.

                  MP Arms is the best!

And Reeds not only overcharges for transfers!

They have a new policy on PPTs and require you a $100. storage fee on a PPT IF YOU DO NOT PICK UP THE GUN WITHIN 24 HOURS FOLLOWING THE 10-Day Waiting period. Talk about not wanting to do PPTs.

I won't be buying any guns there anymore.

I didn't know that there was a requirement to do non-PPT transfers? Why do they have a responsibility to do transfers? Why can't they just say "we prefer to only sell from our inventory and prefer not to do transfers. but if you really want do do a transfer, you'll pay $XXX". Or, just not do transfers at all.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
