Moving to CA - H1B holder

So moving to CA and am wondering if someone can help me with details of moving to the state (out of TX) with LR308 rifles and KH MP5. Left my handguns and other goodies with friends in TX.

    My situation is:
    - non citizen, H1B visa holder (no green card yet - until couple months from now I guess)
    - firearms I am relocating are mostly .308 rifles, few .22LR. no handguns, no CIII firearms/accessories relocate with me.
    - bringing hi cap magazines but they are detached from rifles (read up can bring in but cannot attach)
    - moving to Milpitas/San Jose area (this week)

    My questions:
    1. What are my requirements to bring in the above into the state?
    2. as H1B holder, do I have prerequisites to register the above? What are they if yes?
    3. Any other typical prerequisites for firearms registration in this state?
    4. What is the timeframe to register?
    5. Is the registration online or do I have to go somewhere to do this?
    6. Anything else I need to know?

Itching to go shooting, boys also asking to go. Want to make sure I am all proper for the state before we venture out in this state (especially in this state given political environment).

Thank you in advance for any hep you can provide.

-For the LR308, you will need a bullet button installed

Not sure about the HK MP5. Is is a SBR (Leave it!) or a HK94 (long barrel)? A bullet button is available: http://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/Calif...5-94-p2762.htm

-Firearms brought into the state must be registered (pistol, rifle, shotgun). Here's the DOJ page with more info and the registration form.

Pursuant to Penal Code sections 17000 and 27560, any person who moves into California with a firearm is considered a "Personal Firearm Importer" and is required by California law to do one of the following within 60 days: Complete and submit a New Resident Report of Firearm Ownership (BOF 4010A), pdf along with $19.00 to the California Department of Justice, Bureau of Firearms; Sell or transfer the firearm to a California licensed firearms dealer or to another individual using a California licensed firearms dealer to conduct the transaction; or Sell or transfer the firearm to a California

-As far as high cap mags go, no they cannot be brought in as is (or even disassembled). If you block or permanently modify them to only hold 10 rounds then that should be fine. Otherwise, best to leave them and buy 10 round mags.

We'll cover you if it doesn't work out...

thanks for your replies....have been busy with things wrt moving and other stuff.

So deciding to take the MP5 and LR-308 with me, leaving other stuff behind in TX for safekeeping.

However, just recently came across text that LR-308 is illegal to possess in California. Now that has me worried as I don't want to break the law and seem to be getting contradictory info.
I already installed the bullet button and disassembled the hi cap magazines (keeping in bags - as was told you can have them but must be inoperable).

Am I OK on magazine front, and how about that LR-308? Don't want to find myself in jail when I send in the registration form, and see cops at my door because DPMS LR-308 is determined by them to be illegal.
BTW, going to South Bay area (I think Milpitas/North San Jose).

About the H1B, have that resolved as I was just granted perm residency so no longer an issue. About time they let someone stay that didn't get here illegally...lol.

        Greatly appreciate the help.

OP since you held non immigrant visa/H1B, you need to get hunting license to be able legally own guns. It's easier than obtained waiver from US Attorney General.
