    Places to shoot, NorCal

I?m in the greater Sacramento area and looking for places to shoot that aren?t necessarily public ranges. I?ve heard that some BLM land is open to shooting but don?t know where I can go, set some targets and shoot. Can anyone suggest spots in the area where it is legal and acceptable?

Spenceville near Beal AFB is likely your best/closest bet.

Indian Valley Reservoir is another but I dont know what distance that is to you.

Are you a "leave no trace" kind of guy? Do you pick up your targets/trash...and some extra left by the slobs before you? If so, we might tell you some secret places.

Yes I am. Bring black trash bags to pick up every time. If you have some places Id be grateful!

Absolutely! Leaving a place trashed, especially with things like targets and spent shells which reflects on the gun community. That behavior gets places banned pretty quickly so I?m all about protecting it.

If someone tells you a good spot, make sure you are careful who you share it with. You don't want to share good spots with "bad" people.

I shoot in the National Forest. But it might be snowed in right now.

I went to Spenceville one time. It didn't look very safe there. And it feels farther away from Sacramento than the Forest.

Note that those who have repeatedly expressed enough vile and incoherent content as to render your views irrelevant, have been placed on my ignore list. Thank you for helping me improve my experience and direct my attention towards those who are worthy of it. God bless your toxic little souls.

Totally agree about keeping turds out.

And I've been to Spenceville twice in the past 3 weeks (had to get my new shotgun out to play), on weekday mornings, granted, but it was mellow and friendly.

Can you recommend somewhere in particular as far as the national forest? Even just a general area is fine. Totally understand people not wanting to give away their honey holes.
