I am a member and enjoy shooting at the Dillman range and at the indoor range in the park during the winter pistol league. The have a junior program, but I do not have any experience with it.
Attend one of their meetings and meet the folks.

I am a member. They are not inspecting guns for feature violations. I have never been questioned when bringing featured BB rifles or rifle caliber pistols. I also imagine there are members who have Pre 2000 registered AW and so they are used to seeing even no-BB AWs.

There are no ammo restrictions. It gets crowded Fri-Sun but by policy, members are moved to the front of the wait list.

The only thing I wish for is rapid fire, at least double/triples. And draw from holster would be great. But neither is allowed during normal range sessions. So when I want to practice draw/shoot or really function test my carry guns, I have to go somewhere else. And that sucks.

They are also looking to increase dues. They tried last month with what was IMO a bridge too far proposal, and the members voted it down. Now they are coming back with a more modest proposal, but still a bit high considering I have to do a lot of my CCW shooting somewhere else at much expense.

The range is operated with safety in mind and I appreciate that. There is always one or two ROs watching the line. And they are also friendly with black powder shooters - even after I set the range on fire that one time

They sometimes restrict steel jacketed ammo, but usually if it hasn't rained in a long time.

A member since 1998. The Range Officers as already stated do not check features. The shooting benches are covered. The facilities are well maintained. They have a program that allows a member to work range maintenance, that will reduce their dues for that year.

I was next to a black powder shooter at the pistol side when he set the grass on fire. It was interesting to watch because of all the unburnt powder that accumulates in front of the pistol range.

Thanks all, good info. I think I’ll try and make a meeting or come out to shoot again and get a feel for the place. Membership dues are pretty cheap, it’s a decent place to shoot and only 30 min from home.

I shoot there once a week (all year long, even in the cold). I am a member and even NOT working at the range (once a year) it comes out to about $2-3 a trip. Its so close (to me) that it is even cheaper than driving to my Dad's place in Grass Valley and shooting for free.

Most of it has been said before but:
                1) May restrict steel projectiles in the summer months.
                2) Safety is a priority.
                3) The RO's are familiar with all kinds of configurations (RAW, featureless, fixed mags) and don't ask or care. During cease fire they want chamber flags in and mags removed, but when they spot my BF-10 loaders they know my mags are fixed and may ask me to verify but they know me by now.
                4) They will let you shoot your own steel as long as it is setup in front of the burm (50 yds on the pistol/rimfire side, 100yds on the rifle side) and they will let you throw clays out on the burm in case you get tired of punching paper.

If you are a member, your wife can shoot for $5. Mine goes with me about once a month, not enough to justify a separate membership but certainly worth it.

I like the place, its 15 minutes from home or work.
