    Alta Range shooting and cleanup

Does anyone here shoot at the Alta range? I was thinking of some meet-ups and maybe a plan for some more cleaning (someone has been doing some cleaning already)

I have not yet but plan to shoot there, maybe in the fall after some rain - seems kinda hot and dry to shoot during the summer?

Yes hot and dry but the creek at the back is still running and its mostly dirt if your trying to avoid a fire danger.

Where is the Alta range? Is it near Alta?

Yes near there, it's become my go to shooting spot from Meadow Vista. It's been a spot for locals for a long time.

Yeah, worried about fires. Too close to home. You shoot there in summer ok? Maybe an early morning shoot would be ok. Sure wouldn't mind sighting in my rifle!

Used to shoot on BLM just up from Colfax till they closed that down.

I was up there last week. Not too bad but I do bring a small FE just in case.
The main site will give you up to about 130 yards but the last 20 or so is behind the creek.
I have a few uppers to sight in as well.

We've got a cabin off of Alta Power House Rd. that's been in the family for 75 years and I've never heard of a range in the area. We usually go up out of Dutch Flat past the Forebay.

Shooting area is a more appropriate name. Nothing structured.

it won't take long to clean up the area, but it will need a good size dumpster, and a bobcat or tractor would be great.

If anyone know how to organize that equipment, we can make this happen
