    Where to buy gun powder

Can some provide shops that sell Hogdons Varget and .45 cal gun powder?
    I reload 5.56, .45 ACP, and 7.62.

I don't mind traveling 400 miles Northern or Southern Cal.

Check Gunbroker.com you have to pay the hazmat shipping but thats cheaper than driving all around town to track sum down. Just bought 16lbs of IMR3031 for 370.
    Keep Smiling!!!!

Varget is extremely hard to find anywhere in stock -- it is the holy grail of powders these days.

Best bet is online, but you will pay ~$28.50 or so for hazardous materials fee plus shipping for any powder and/or primers. This is a single charge for up to 50k primers or around 40-50lbs of powder (or combinations), so buying in "bulk" is the most cost effective way to spread the hazmat cost around.

Check out gunbot.net for powder, but Varget usually sells out in minutes because of its scarcity and popularity. Also follow the "powder available" thread in the reloading subsection.

Like Varget, handgun powder has been extremely difficult to find anywhere as well. Again, online is your best bet.

Otherwise, see what people are selling in the reloading classified section. You are willing to drive, so use that money for local purchases from fellow calgunners. They will definitely be charging a fair penny, but if you really need it, you might find some at a decent price. I actually found someone selling Varget at a decent price ($210 for a #8), which is just over $26/lb.

Good luck, some powders are hard to find. IMR 4064, IMR3031, are both becoming fairly available online (I saw that AAA Sports in Vallejo had 4+ #8 jugs of IMR 3031 for ~$200 about a week ago, and I first saw them 10 days before then (when filling out DROS then picking it up). IMR 4064 is great for 308/762 and is what is used in FGMM. IMR 3031 is good for 223/556.

For a local source, you can check here: his inventory says 62 1lb. of Varget in stock.

Look for the surplus pulldown powders like wc844. I bought 16 lbs for $320 shipped. Tac is available also.

I once pondered over the debate of 9mm vs. .40, then I was introduced to .38 super and 10mm and forgot all about it.
