        These were amateurs, not pros.
        Dumb amateurs, too.
They cut the wiring with likely no clue on how to hot wire it.
And, to discourage theft, most modern bikes cannot be hot wired, there is more to it than just connecting the wires.

These guys were amateurs. A van, a modified dolly, and a 1" steel bar is all that's required.

A small dolly is modified to cradle the back wheel. The bar goes through the front wheel.

Two guys pick up the back of the bike and slide the dolly under it, then run the steel bar through the front wheel and lift as they roll it to the van.

In it goes, and then they have all the time in the world to work on the locks cleanly without damaging the bike at all.

Had an insurance guy tell me he has seen skateboards with wagon handles attached to them to wheel bikes that had a front lock and no back lock.

Also talked to a guy on a bike run one time that was in a restaurant looking out the window when 3 guys in a van pulled up, lifted his bike into the van and split before he could run out of the restaurant.

If they want your bike bad enough, most good thieves will get it.

Getting it out of sight (garage) is a big help. Make it not worth the trouble, so they move on to an easier mark.

Sucks Man. I lost a GSX750 back in '90. My friend called from down the street, saying he saw someone just ride by on it. I had only been home for 15 minutes, they took it right out of my driveway. I kept it in the garage at night but wasn't planning on staying home.

The cops showed up and I could hear them chasing him. The guy dropped it twice, each time picking it up and ditching them again. They had identified who he was and found him at home in the AM. Found my bike in a park the next day, but it was never the same again. Trashed.

I'm sorry OP. I lost a showroom mint 05 Daytona 650 back in FL. You feel so violated when this happens.

My bike was never fully recovered. They got the rear swing arm off of a home built rat bike a year later but that was it.

My second bike I had lo-jacked. I sold it before I moved to CA and the new owner called me a year later and said it had been stolen from his apartment and then lo-jack recovered the next morning at another apartment a mile away with a different cover on it.

Insurance is your best friend. Lo-jack is your next best friend.

I'm shocked that nobody has come up with small cages or steel crates to secure motorcycles at apartment complexes yet. Kinda like those bicycle ones just a bit bigger to fit the bike with rider, and to weigh it down you can fill a tank built into the floor with water. Wired up with an alarm system as well. Could probably build them for less than $1000.

I remeber those days used yo chain my bike to my non op cars axle when i lived in a small apt. Moved where theres a garage and never looked back all my bikes over the years stayed super clean and safe.

Also hope you have insuance. Not worth the hassle not sleeping thinking about it. A good theif brings a truck of van 2 fat friends and lifts it in the back and takes your locks off later
