Not quite Bay Area, but I almost exclusively go to Camp 9 in lieu of all the range closures.

If your into highpower competition you can shoot rapids at RRGC 3 times a month.
        Keep it simple!

You session should be at least twice the length of the drive. Plan out a four hour session. Take steel and rig up a moving target. Make sure to go with a friend for assistance and safety.

I get to shoot on my cousin’s land in a rural part of American Canyon where anything goes! Mag dump anything you want, shoot akimbo, gangster style, 3-gun practice, etc... We just have to let the Napa county SD know were going out there ahead of time so they won’t send every law enforcement agency in the area if someone reports rapid fire gunshots (ask me how I know...). Best part is since I moved to Solano county, I only live 10 min away!

Yeh, The Gun Range is great place to test reliability. Man, it?s a drive but they don?t have a time limit on your range time anyways. I think I?ve stayed there for 5-6 hours a couple times before (bring water bottles and beefy jerky sticks); and they didn?t mind. I usually stay for about 3-4 hours whenever I?m there to make the trip worth it.

I do notice most Bay Area outdoor or indoor ranges tend to have a one shot per however many seconds rule. The little more lenient ones allow double taps.

Los Altos Rod & Gun now says they allow rapid fire in all calibers as long as you maintain control. Check out their website - https://www.losaltosrodandgunclub.com/
                        The following statement is true.

If you take a course first, Livermore Rod & Gun Club has a 2nd range specifically for tactical type training. I have not taken their course, but having seen the range it seems to be setup for shooting from a holster and engaging multiple targets. Don't know for sure how it works.

I've been trying to find options in the Bay Area now that I'm up here but it seems like a tall order. Lots of ranges are really anal (looking specifically at Livermore's rules) and it is hard to find any options that permit shooting past 100 yards, and I have found nothing so far past 300. Most places are a good drive away from me. Not sure that there is any BLM land less than 2 hours away, either, that is worth going to and on which it is legal to shoot.

The indoor range I was going to in Vacaville closed a few months ago (last time I was up here I went to Bullseye in San Rafael, but they are long gone). For now I am going to Circle S in Petaluma. Seems to be the best option so far, as they go to 300 yards and aren't too strict, but also not too lax. Sometimes I can have the range to myself for a while. Range fees are reasonable. An hour and a half away, though. The range setup does not let me use a sling as a shooting aid, though, as it places the rifle too high to be used the way everything is constructed there, which is unfortunate. It is hard to get stable positions unless you are using a rest on the bench.

In SoCal I'd go to a spot that isn't frequented much by others on BLM land about as far away from where I'm from as Circle S is to me now, timewise, and it is possible to set up for safe multi-directional/action shooting and for distances out to several hundred yards and beyond. I pretty much stopped patronizing the ranges down there as the desert is so much better and the local ranges aren't that much more convenient, although I'd meet a friend at Angeles sometimes.
