Can someone say what rules at Livermore are so unusual? I looked at their site but didn't see anything and all these comments have me curious now.

I think the biggest complaint is you can only shoot at bullseye targets. I think one of the main reasons is the range design. If you are pistol shooting and shooting at 10 yards, any lower shot will hit the ground or a stand base further out. Yesterday a tall shooter was asked not to put a bullseye on the lower part of the supplied target because he was hitting too low further out, limiting him to the upper foot and a half of the target frame at 10 yards. A silhouette target would be too low from the closer positions. So I suspect a general rule exists, there could be other reasons too.

Just got back from an early morning shooting session with the wife at Dublin. Got there around 10:30 and there were only two stalls taken. Nice! They recently repainted the whole range in addition to repairs to the target hangers etc. Looks really nice in there now. A lot more light. I really like it now. Lines on the floor have been repainted too and are easier to see too. However, I think someone forgot to put the distance numbers on the walls...

All in all a great day of shooting. Dublin is also having a pretty good sale on just about everything.

          Happy shooting and be safe.

Sac valley is my go to since USI closed. I know there are ranges that are more close to me but I'll gladly drive right past them.

I'll add to the list of places that I have shot at minus the places already listed.

I think NO humanoid IE zombies, monsters, obozo targets are not wanted.

Cause ranges have enough trouble with the anti's they do not want to be seen as training snipers or the next "mass shooter" etc. round targets are "nice".

most people do not look like a round circle.

I only shoot at ranges if someone pulls my leg to go. Luckily my cousin owns some private land about 20 min from my new house

I got into firearms (more specifically handguns) fairly recently, summer of this year to be excact. Bought my first gun and as soon as I picked it up after the wait period, I went straight to the Livermore range. It’s the second closest to me coming from Antioch. I was a little intimidated since, it was my first time shooting a handgun. The rules are pretty fair IMO. Told an RSO that it was my first time there and they explained the rules clearly and respectfully. They are strict, I’ve seen them kick someone out for muzzle sweeping multiple times. The rules are there to keep shooters safe and the range open. Personally, I’ve only had good experiences and I’m there every week since my first visit. The staff and RSO’s are very helpful. One RSO in particular blessed me with some great shooting techniques and tips. Too bad I can’t remember his name at the moment, but his coaching made all the difference in my accuracy and grouping. Such a huge difference from day one, can’t thank him enough. Not trying to sound biased but I can only say good things about Livermore/Pleasanton rod and gun club.

I haven't tried LPRG yet... been meaning to since it's closer to Discovery Bay when I'm out that way. Given the amount of asshattery seen at some other ranges, sometimes strict rules are a necessary evil.

Sunnyvale Rod and Gun is a little farther afar from the East Bay, but it's a great place as well... minimum distance for pistols is 25 yards though... but they have steel set up, so that makes up for it.

normally at any range if you ask a RO before doing something they will respect that.

Also helps they know your face.
