    Nor Cal BLM Shooting-Cow/Boggs Mountain

"There's is an rifle range in Boggs mountain haven't been there ..."
    - I found this in a 2013 post relating to Cow Mountain.

    - Anyone have any recent info on shooting at Boggs Mountain?

    - How about any recent excursions to Cow Mountain (photos, impressions). Most older posts say it's kind of a dump (literally as well as figuratively), and one individual stated something about folks drinking and shooting there which seems insane (alcohol and shooting concerns me much more than trash seeing as garbage won't accidentally shoot you in the back). I grew up in Sonoma County and currently live in Oakland and was hoping for some recent news prior to making a trip up there (just purchased a Springfield Super Match, woo hoo).

    - Also, saw a mention of "the little range in south cow mountain". Any info?

    Thanks guys and gals.
    Shoot safe.

I was thinking about doing some bird dog training up at cow mountain. I've never been but I need a place to go where I can plant some birds and shoot a gun over the dog. Heard cow mountain might work. I too would like anyone's thoughts on the place.

I haven't been up there in about a year but I like the 400yrds and variety of junk to shoot. It is a dump which is sad and I heard on the weekends its packed.

image.jpgCow mountain it's a beautiful place ... But people don't pack their garbage ... Rifle range it's better now. I volunteer once a month but i can't do much. People laugh on my face ...they say they pay lots of taxes .. And yes Gadsden .. People drinks up there and leave their beer bottles .. I talked to the BLM office to ask for permission to hang some signs and they approved my signs... Talk to 707 decals and signs and he donate them...

I haven't been up there since last January. There is a designated shooting range with four shooting benches. You can set up your own targets or shoot at some makeshift hanging steel targets at 400yds. There are berms so you have a good backstop already. It was actually the first time I went up there and I was sad to see what a dump that place was. The place was littered with shotgun hauls, brass and various trash people brought up there to shoot. Being a reloader myself I picked up not only my own brass but others as well. My group also brought our own target stands with steel targets which we set up, shot at, took down, and brought home. If you go up there PLEASE don't bring up crap like old TV's, Car doors, etc unless you plan on cleaning every bit of that ***** up and taking them back with you.

It's reasons like this why people keep their shooting areas secret.

polo.45 is a good guy for his efforts.

I go up there all the time to shoot. It's a really nice place and I much prefer it to any organized range around here. I have never seen anyone drinking and shooting. There is trash, but it's nothing I haven't seen before. Every time I go there, I see people packing out what they packed in.
