    South Bay handgun training

I apologize in advance if this has been posted elsewhere; I used the search function and perused other threads, so if another thread has this/better info please PM me and I'll head on over there instead.

I'm a new handgun shooter and I need advice on classes in the San Jose / South Bay area. I took a basic handgun course at the dealer which sold me my Springfield XD9SC but it was mostly textbook with no actual time spent on the important basics. I've watched Magpul videos and read everything I can get my hands on, but being an autodidact only goes so far. I need to find instruction on the basics: stance, sighting, accuracy, reloading... all of it.

What are some classes/courses you have found that provided thorough hands-on instruction? What classes would you avoid or recommend against? I go to the range every week and I'm getting better, but I can't help but feel that range time would be a better investment if I actually had a proper foundation to build on, because practicing bad habits isn't worthwhile practice at all.

TL;DR New female shooter looking for good classes in San Jose / South Bay area. Looking for advice and recommendations from the awesome people here.

Try Tactical Training Associates in Morgan Hill. My cousin, she went there for handgun training.

Another thumbs up for TTA. I've attended 3-4 of their training classes and they are good to go. They will give you not only the fundamentals you need to build on but insure you have an enjoyable experience while learning.

Exceptionally female friendly (my wife has taken two of their pistol classes and never felt uncomfortable) but adult (expect some use of strong language).

All the instructors are serving SJ LEO's and impart a good deal of self-defense knowledge as well. Plus they are all funny as hell to listen to.

I believe they also do private lessons as well if a group thing doesnt suit you.

Good to know. I come from a LEO/Military family so I don't shy from adult language I shot them an e-mail yesterday afternoon since all of their March classes are sold out. Thank you!
