Gold panning near Pioneer?

Hey guys, where is a good sport to do some practice gold pannong with the kids? Doesnt need to be a money maker just a quiet spot where a 4 yr old doesnt have a chance of drowning.
Im planning on seeding the dirt with brass shavings so the kids can have something to pan. Thanks in advance

Just head down Defender Grade. There is a small river at the bottom of the hill with a turnout. I do believe it's the lickinfork. (SP) go further through west point and you will hit the mokelumne.
