    Shooting for her birthday

My daughter just turned 16. Wow! Where does the time go? Back to the thread. So when i asked what she wanted for her birthday she replys " I. want you to teach me how to shoot like you." My wife said that i couldnt stop smiling for days.
So this past weekend came and her and i went to the range. I only let her shoot small calibers and some wadcutters. Didnt want to give her a flench. She shot 5 different handguns, automatics and wheelguns. She feel in love with my ruger mark 2. That girl went thru a bulk box of 550 rounds. Started her off with basic target shooting. Once she gained alittle confidense, i put out a couple soda cans and ping pong balls for her to shoot. When she got the down, i gave her a lesson in moving targets. I blew up ballons and let the wind blow them across the range. Its amazing how instand satisfaction really helps the learning process. I was sooo PROUD of her!!
The whole time we were there, she showed great paticence, used her mind and asked questions. But most of all she paided attention to the range rules and was always safe. She lives with her mom, so i dont get to see her much or i would have started her off at shooting along time ago, but ha you are never to old to learn how to shoot. Afterwards i let her get some drive time in. Then we went to lunch. All in all, it was a great day!

Congrats!! I try to take my little brother when he visits from Atlanta. Couldn't go last weekend because I was sick, he got a lil sick while he was here and it was cold and windy.

Congrats! I hope my lil girl ask me to show her how to shoot one day. She will be 7 in March and I always try to show her pics of guns to try and win her over. But I am not trying force it on her. I don't want to blow it. You are lucky and I absolutely love the pic of you and your girl, your smile says it all. I guess we all want that.

That is a great story, thanks for sharing. I hope when I do have kids, they'll grow up and show interest in my hobbies as well. She seems like a sweet kid.

That's something that you and her will never forget. Awesome memories I can't wait to capture when I have children. Its hard enough to get my girlfriend to go. Congrats man.

Hehe that is always a good thing to see.

It is getting harder to see good ol' family recreational shooting in Kalifornia.

Just always remind her of gun safety.

Emdawg forgot once. Just once. Now I have two big holes in my right leg.

Your grin in that 2nd pic is priceless.

That's awesome. She's lucky to have a dad like you!!! And great to hear she's taken an interest in firearms.

The only way I got to shoot before I was old enough to buy the gun myself was by joining a school skeet team when I was in jr high (we went every Thursday after school and got to shoot a box of 25 each). lol
