A rifle program just for women

Project Appleseed has scheduled a LadySeed event at the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center on June 13-14, 2015. (There will be 11 Appleseed events at this venue that are open to all). This class will be staffed by a female instructor corps.

This two day 25 meter class teaches three position rifle marksmanship (Standing, Seated/Kneeling, and Prone) and proper use of the sling.

Suitable rifles are rimfire or centerfire, magazine or tube fed, bolt action or semi auto, iron sights or scoped. You will need approximately 400 rounds of ammunition.

During lunch the instructors will present a program about the events of April 19, 1775 and why that date (and its events) was so critical to the birth of this country.

Registration information: June 13-14 (This LadySeed event is for women of all ages)

I totally support Appleseed and Ladyseed. The more women who learn to shoot, the fewer successful home invasions will occur.

NRA's Women on Target, in addition to Women's Hangun classes, also has Women's Rifle and Women's Shotgun, if I am not mistaken. Check with RickyRay here on Calguns for more info.

Psst.... want to know a secret?

There is a way you can attend an Appleseed event for only $48 instead of the normal $60 registration fee. And because you asked, I'll share it with you so you can help your friends afford to attend too!

Save 20% off the cost of an Appleseed rifle marksmanship event by purchasing a gift certificate thru their online store. $48 gets you a gift certificate good for a $60 event fee (a 20% savings) Sale ends Dec 31, 2014, purchased gift certificates do not expire.

Disclosure: I am a volunteer instructor with no financial ties to this organization.

I know a lady appleseed instructor ! You lady's may not believe it, but she is better at it than most men . It was good fortune I had her as an instructor at an appleseed event .

I personally witnessed her hitting the steel targets at Angeles shooting ranges . She was prone with iron sighted M14 rifle and she clanged the steel at 2,3,4,5,and 600 yards w/o a miss !

Congratulations to your friend, I'm so pleased for her. But in what world would I be surprised that a woman instructor is just as good or better than any other instructor? I know you meant well, but it's this kind of notion that turns women off of shooting sports.

However, I do completely suppport Appleseed. It's the best, most inexpensive, family oriented rifle training I know of. Take the kids. Make a day or a weekend out of it. It's great fun.

Nothing on the 2015 schedule in that region yet.

Here is the nationwide LadySeed schedule:

Appleseed Project and especially Ladyseed Project is the best 2 days you can spend out at the range! Instructors are all top of the line and some of the best history you will learn. Highly recommend it!
