i've had discussions with moderators on this very topic. there is a lot of soft porn but its gotten better, imo. while i realize that guns are mainly a guy thing, this website also says it wants women to participate and support the 2nd amendment. i think the soft porn is enough to turn many women away. i also think there are enough websites out there to satisfy the porn needs of the members at calguns. and just what does a crotch shot of a woman spread eagled holding a gun have to do with supporting guns and promoting gun ownership?

i do think the moderators have been responsive and open to suggestions when something is out of line. it is my understanding that they've had male calgunners contact them regarding the soft porn nature of some of the postings as well.

why would i continue to look at the thread? well, for one its good for me to see other women with guns: ideas re stance and what i might want to consider buying. it also is a way of meeting the other half of some of the guys that participate here. and i fell in lust with a rifle that a group of military women were using.

Funny you should mention that...when I peruse those "Girls w/ Guns(tm)" photos, The first thing I see is whether or not they have their finger outside the trigger guard, and whether their gun handling is skillful and safe. Bad gun handling bothers me more than objectification.

I have no inherent problem with porn, be its core soft or hard. That said, I think that those sorts of photos, and the slavering responses to 'em, can really drive some women away from the site. I understand that one woman who had photos posted of her on the Girls and Guns thread ended up getting e-stalked by at least one member, and that, I feel, was truly out of line and created an unwelcome, hell, a downright unsafe, atmosphere. I'm glad that the moderators have been so open to handling the issue, though.

It's good that most of the guys on the forum really are open to womens' participation in shooting sports and second amendment issues; the few that just want women around for their entertainment and/or attractiveness quotient miss the point. That said, the Girls and Guns thread has plenty of images of women who are shooting for their own reasons, with their own equipment, having a fine time: that's useful and valuable.

I think if these "misplaced neanderthals" thought girls would actually get turned on seeing them pose suggestively with guns in their underwear, they'd do it too. But you see... society is so screwed up and unfair because beer bellies and muffin tops aren't equally appreciated as six-packs, cut triceps, and that little muscle dimple thing that male models have right below the belt line on either side of their generous... anatomicals.

I don't think its sexist - objectivist, possibly, but the deadly and lethal is always beautiful and mesmerizing.

Well, I posted the pics to demonstrate that guys don't mind being "objectified" either - but I suppose you are right in that more skin needs to be shown out of an interest in fairness. Hm. Well, if you'd like to be my photographer, I have a whole lot of picture worthy guns.

Here's a pic of me taken recently. There is a gun in the room, although obviously not on me. This is at my GF's place, on my birthday. The gun was a BG Makarov with 8 rounds of Wolf hardball. I needed a gun small enough to conceal in my laptop bag's CD pocket.

I seriously think that many guys secretly would like to have suggestive (albeit masculine) pictures taken of them with their toys. The problem is broaching the subject - "so... how I pump iron for about an hour, you oil me up, then I'll wear one of your thongs and drape myself over a leather couch while making sweet sensitive love to a 1938 Finnish M39 Nagant in Artic Birch?"

bdschms, i agree: that pink rifle is a chick magnet....good luck. and for future picture posting reference, i prefer the S&W 66-1 stainless...so much so i bought one this summer with a 4 inch barrel from another calgunner.

That goes double for me! Speedos, thongs, ect and me are a no go.

Though I do have 7 revolvers in .357mag alone Maybe I should add a pic to myself to the guys and guns thread...

I do look at the girls and guns thread, hey I'm a guy! But the guys that obsess over such pics remind me of someone who would do the Tim Allen Home Improvement grunt while sitting around in dirty underwear watching football and drinking PBR.
