    Gym/Workout Holsters?

I got kicked out of a gym today for wearing a small gym bag (the square ones with draw strings). Any favorite on body holsters for the gym? Keep in mind most holsters on the waist will not workout for me (will probably get in the way). I was thinking of an ankle holster since I wear sweat pants. Not sure if the gym will allow fanny packs. I'm open to suggestions!

Popcorn puppy why don't you think a waist holster will work?

It really depends on the type of gun. The best ankle holster rig I have seen is the Sticky Holster Ankle Bitter rig. But this is a very weak position to carry a primary gun.

If your weapon is a sub-compact or compact automatic or revolver, and you feel you need to wear it well working out, I would suggest a bellyband worn high just under the breast line. It is a much stronger position to carry the weapon. Also can be refitted to your hips before leaving the gym. There are various manufactures and prices range from $18.00 - $40.00. I don't believe price reflects quality, I have looked at all of them and carry a brand I sell for $18.00. Most of my customers for these are female LEO and Security. The Belly Bands will carry a full size but working out with one could be uncomfortable. Some will recommend the Flash Bang Holster, I can't, but it is an option.

Fanny packs can work, but can scream gun, as well as the risk of taking it off leaving it and someone else gaining control of it.

    Does your gym have lockers?

By the way I think you will find the Sticky Holster may well work for you on the waistline. it's a friction hold. The biggest problem I see with either the ankle holster or a waist holster is that the gun will be exposed during the rigors of the workout. Concealed means concealed. The first time someone sees the gun and calls the police, you will likely lose the permit.
There is also a compression shirt that puts the gun under the arm, you can find them at the Glock Store. I personally think you would find a belly band more flexible and comfortable. PackinFurDefense.com carries those at a reasonable price.

      Hi!
I was doubting a waist holder would work because I would be flexing in the hip area too much and the gun would get in the way. I also wear a tech/polyester shirt during workouts. It is fairly long enough, however its bound to ride up during exercises (bench press, pull-overs, pull-ups ect.). I'll also be hitting the gym 4-5 times a week and I sweat. A lot. I could give the belly band type a try, but after 1 day its probably going to stink.

The gym has lockers, however there have been multiple thefts in the locker room as well car thefts reported last month.
I feel the need to always carry unless its a prohibited (by law) area or place. I am on campus all day, so going home to leave my ccw, going back to campus gym, then going home & back wouldn't work out.

I was also worried about the ankle holsters not fully concealing the firearm (especially the end of it).

Thank you so much for all the tips and suggestions! I will look into the recommended holsters and website =)

        Here's some ideas...

PopcornPuppy, have you seen this: http://www.511tactical.com/wm-holster-shirt.html

Secure your firearms with the perfect holster finder from LA Police Gear. Our products are made by cops for cops. Shop our collection of police holsters today!

I wear the men's version of that shirt when I am jogging around my area. It fits most small concealable pistols and revolvers, plus a small pepper spray (for dogs) and my keys on the other side.

I've worked armed security contracts and have instructed law enforcement and armed civilians for about a decade. In my line of work, I work with gun-toters all the time. I have had the opportunity to discuss their "alternative" carry methods and their lessons-learned over the years. Here's some options for you to consider:

I have used all of those products and can comment on their PRO's/CON's. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

        I hope that helps. --1911ShooterPhil

Depending on your build a bra holster or even a necklace holster might work for you.

Id use it in a fannypack with your earbuds coming out of it to look like you wear the fannypack to hold onto your iphone(music player) just keep it in a holster that covers the triggerguard while inside the fannypack

Hylas, good suggestion on hiding with the ear buds. May still be hard to flex. PopcornPuppy, 1911ShooterPhil brings up a good point about carrying Pepper Spary. I carry a can of Sabre Red with me, even when I am not carrying my M&P, as it gives me a non-lethal option. When you can't carry a gun it's a good thing to have and carry options abound.

There are a lot of options. The belly bands have the advantage of being inexpensive, and for the price of some systems you can buy multiple, affordable.

I don't carry UnderTech Undercover in my shop, mostly because as a body wearable system they are expensive and you need multiples. but they are well made. The Midriff Concealment Tank is made for women, and is basically a sports bra with a holster. They also have concealment shorts but I don't think they will be comfortable for ground workouts, i.e. crunches, sit ups, lifting where your on a bench. Their website is UndertechUndercover.com

Unfortunately, Ma'am, it's going to be a trade off. I personally do not carry while training in doors, however I do keep a knife on me at all times. When running outdoors, I carry as I normally do.

I can't see a comfortable and convenient way to carry when you workout 3 times a week considering the constant need to wash the item/wipe down your pistol.

Especially when you wear compression type clothing. You may have to keep a knife on you (a rainbow one) then quickly and stealthily head to your firearm if the event rises.

There are several good garter holsters, but spandex wont hid them.

PopcornPuppy, one other option if you leave your gun locked in your car, and own an iPhone 5/5s would be the Yellow Jacket. It's a 950,000 volt stun gun built into an Iphone Case. Most people keep there phone with them constantly, so it wouldn't seem out of place.
