ladies will always be better at some things

She not only color coded them, she took it way beyond to the next step. There are different types of markings for different types of magazines.

For example, on the left are all the .22 conversion mags, but the one out of sync of the others with the red/green dot is the ONLY slide lock back mag we have, and the difference between the yellow or red dot ones one might think are polymer mags verses metal mags, but it's her's verses mine.

Then as you go down the ranks the differences are basically 7 rounders and 8 rounders, but the two 7 rounders with the green stripes are the only two COLT branded mags.

Those with blue or yellow of any kind are HER property, those with red or green of any kind are MY property. With ONE exception. The one on the far right with the solid red block I think is hers. She acquired a used 1911 National Match gun while I was deployed, and I've never seen that magazine. So I'm assuming it is from that purchase, but is a 7 round mag, and I think she didn't want to ruin the the run of patterns.

I think I get good boyfriend points because I figured the code out myself.

PS. I don't know how to tell her I still a few magazines at my place that didn't make it into the batch. Ahhhhh, what a problem to have

double PS, she doesn't know yet, I bought some wilson metal followers and springs to upgrade the rest of those junky 7 rounders we are regulated to use at Bulls Eye matches to make them "awesome". So those will go down the tubes as soon as I get home.

Dude, don't tell her! She'll quietly be very angry at you and will bring it up 3 years down the line in an argument that has NOTHING to do with these.

For some reason my mother likes to call me when I'm in the middle of a meeting to scold me for not washing the dishes when I was 12. I am still plagued by these voicemails and even worse that she is able to text now.

PS. she gets brownie points and a high five for creativity.

PSS. again, don't tell her about the extra mags.

women are naturals when it comes to organizing!

That's awesome! I think you have a super girlfriend, but maybe don't tell her about the extra magazines just yet. Wait till Christmas or something when you perhaps gift her with a few more and then just be like "Hey, I found these in my apartment."

I was just sorting my mags this past weekend and was wondering how to label/mark them. What did your gf use to mark the mags?

Oh man, I'm a lady and I could NEVER be that organized! Maybe I could come up with a coding system and put it on a couple mags, but WOW that right there is intense!

Lol I always joke about my "creativity" being why my house is so disorganized. It's certainly one reason why all my guns are different makes and the same caliber (9mm) so I can easily tell which mags go where, and not worry about screwing up ammo selection.

It may be more time consuming, but that labeling convention might be better.

I presume a paint and brush, like she does to paint our Bomar Sights.

I admire OP's lady's organization, but I'm not clear on the concept. I keep my mags with the guns they belong to. Why would you separate the mags from the guns?

Neat but completely different reason to color code magazines! Mine are color coded so when I drop one on the course of fire, I can tell MY mag from someone else's mag.

I have way too many mags to even begin to keep them with the specific firearm.
