I am working the Calguns booth at the Del Mar gun show. We have handouts for the Calguns Women Facebook page. We want to know if it is still active since the last post was last year. Anyone know?

Actually, I guess I should have clarified. There "was" a CalGuns Women Facebook page created to investigate avenues of participation for female gun owners. The women asked me to approach CGSSA about seeking permission to form a women's commission under the CGSSA umbrella. I did ask, but CGSSA determined that this wasn't the right time for such a project. The group's name was changed in order to avoid any unintended conflicts in the use of the name "CalGuns".

So, yes, the group is still there, but not as a CGSSA interest group. I wasn't aware that there were still flyers left from last year. You can throw them away.

I wouldn't get too attached to the 'calshooters' site as an alternate.
The screenshots of the duplication of color, layout and name that is similar enough to call in to question it's purpose are all being forwarded to an attorney for Copyright and Trademark review.

I would suspect a cease and Desist will be forthcoming.

As a general rule I agree however from my perspective there are other things to consider.

One being that the person who started it used to go by 'TBHRacing' here until he was banned for among other things some rather misogynistic and rude comments towards female members. That and insulting other members in general lead to his eventual permaban.
Brett has since been banned under roughly a dozen other usernames.

Another is while more 2A support is laudable given his previous conduct and threats I doubt he has any real interest in long term 2A support.

Finally given that it is an exact clone down to layout and custom colors I have a fiduciary duty to defend my Copyrights and Trademarks as an officer of Calguns.net, an incorporated entity.

Not to mention that in addition to the $30,000+/annually Calguns generates for 2A non-profits it is a source of income and livelihood for my Wife and I. Were it not for Calguns she would not have been able to have left work and begin pursuing her other interests.

When I first saw that page on FB, I thought it was a page for this site. Its identical. Its got trouble written all over it lol. I was tempted to register for the free ammo though haha.

I wish we had a FB page for us girls.

I'm sure the CalShooters.net owners will be smart enough to change their colors, fonts and format, etc. to avoid copyright infringement. I'm sure a courteous letter to the owners will prompt the necessary changes. Why waste resources on frivolous law suits?

One of the axioms of business that I learned in a looong career was "never diss the competition". I learned to put a crocodile smile on my face and say " It's a FINE firm". You never know when you might need people...

So, how about a Facebook page for Calguns women? Where is it? And if it isn't, why isn't it? Women shooters are the fastest growing segment of gun buyers in that nation, so how about it?

I just finished a search through all my past records during the 09/2013 to present time period. I do not see any record of the above mentioned determination. The board did discuss the possibility of forming the ad hoc group and I did see during that time period Paul making a few comments requesting further conversation and elaboration, but nothing more. If my records are incomplete please send me the information, my contact information is below.

I remember Bad Kitty's request for a Women's Commission, because I was in multiple discussions with her about it. It was clearly not a priority for CGSSA at the time. No one said "No", specifically, but the message was obvious to me. The phrase "killed in committee" leaps irresistibly to mind. (And "ad hoc" means an informal effort to study or plan a particular thing. Ad hoc committees do not have business plans or committees to form committees.)

I have the records, I'll forward info on the thread if anyone asks. Remember, people read between the lines in emails, and consistent absence of encouragement and support feels like "no".

Update: Because I no longer have access to the C3 gmail group, where this whole discussion happened, I can't produce the evidence. But I do remember precisely what happened and how it felt. If someone wants to turn on my access again, I'll dig it out.

BUT, we digress AGAIN ! What about a CGN/CGSSA Women's SIG page? BK and I can easily gen up a poll, if people need evidence that CGN Women want such a thing.
