Question about a birthday present for the wife

I wanted to ask the female shooters out there what your thoughts are on a birthday present for my wife of 17 years. First, she has all the diamonds/jewelry a girl could want. She has just in the last year fell in love with shooting. She took over on one of my AR's so the first thing I got her was a lefty upper (Stag Arms Model 2HT-L (Left Handed). I know she will love that, no question there. I did how ever also get her a pair of Nike Special Field Boots. She has nothing like this and I could not find any other boot, that I liked, in her size. Bottom line am I gonna get the WTF are these or will she be a happy camper. Did I do ok overall?

I have been married for 30 years. I bolded the problem phrase. It took me at least 20 years to realized that when I went shopping for my wife I bought what I thought she would like and ended up getting what I liked hoping she would like it.

Us guys are very slow learners. So, after discussing this with some women coworkers the best plan birthday plan every for my wife was developed. Now, I take no responsibility for developing this plan and on my own I would have never figured it out.

It is called a date day of shopping for the gift she wants. The Saturday closest to her birthday I am hers all day. If she wants to make a weekend of it, it is her decision. She decides where we go shopping and I go along. I do all the driving and I am not allowed to complain. Sometimes it is near where we live, sometimes it is a city a few hours a way. I do not have to figure out what she wants. She gets exactly what she wants. I get to spend time alone with her without any other disruptions. Cell phones are not allowed. Of course, since we were dating and married before cell phones, we can live without them for a weekend.

It is always nice because I get to make her feel special while reminding me how special she is to me. At the same time, there is no pressure on me to get the perfect gift. I am not psychic and just cannot pick up on those subtle clues.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

      jeremiah, you do it right!

BLKFJDC, as a woman I have to tell you that she may or may not like what you picked out....but more importantly I have found that boots just have to be tried on to be "liked". looks aren't important but fit is and unless she tries them on and She Likes Them, well, you didn't do ok. I also find that I wear a very different size in boots than I do in shoes......so knowing her size may not be of help. also, you don't know if she is going to want to wear a heavy sock or a light sock which makes a big difference in whether a boot is comfortable or not.

I think your heart is in the right place. but has she actually expressed an interest in this type of footwear?

      good luck!

eta: I actually like the looks but I prefer a zipper boot or a pull on boot....easier to put on and take off.

Well guys. Your comments are spot on. She got her gifts last night. Boots were a size too small but she loved them and so the next size up is on its way. As for the rest, well she was so excited to finally have her own "lefty" AR, I thought it was gonna be next to me in bed. LOL. Jeremiah, you are dead right about letting her pick her day. I asked about a month ago and she said all I want to do is go out and play in the desert with you and no friends. So with her new AR & the rig packed we will be going out to play with the new toy and my other toys this weekend. Thank you guys for your input. Even after 17 years, I am still learning. I am 37 now so I am hoping by the time I hit 50, I will be on the right track.

Jeremiah, you are a prince ! And what a great idea ! Much better than gift cards.

And just in passing, gentlemen, if in doubt, you will very rarely go wrong in estimating a lady's clothing size to the smaller side.

I agree that for many lady's clothing size you are correct. For my wife, Its always being worried about 2 big. At a whopping 5'2" 90lbs. I could go to the kids dept. and find stuff that fits....
