When it comes to guns women can be so mean.

That's good though! She is taking responsibility for protecting herself.
If all women did this there would be a lot less rapes and murders.
And also there would be a lot less prison population because more rapists and murderers would be dead.
It was good of you to teach her how to shoot, and to load up mags for her use while you were away deployed.Comment

Does she have a sister for me?
Sorry, not sorry.

I wish I had a wife who was into 1911's.
Or just a wife.
Or just a 1911.Originally posted by RookieShooterOne of the theory is that the hormones they put in the milk. That is why there are more obesity and homosexual today then back in the 60's.Comment

love your sense of humor, Snoopy!
ETA: you're giving him a run for his $, Jimmy, re the humor....!"The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her own pantyhose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound."-- as seen on a t-shirt

Ummm yea................... I didn't show her how to shoot anything. That target is at varying distances from 7-25 yards (48 shots) at varying times from 6-60 seconds.
She's been shooting hand guns regularly for about a year.
She's my favorite example of "whats a good hand gun for a woman".
Answer: Whichever one she likes best.
If a little Asian lady can plug that 10 ring above at 25 yards with a 45ACP 1911 then that pretty much debunks the whole to much gun argument.
Seriously, I hardly shot better than her when I left, and now I'm not shooting anything for the rest of the year. I'm totally going to get my ***** handed to me when I get back.

Sounds awesome. I'm really happy my wife recently asked me to get her a gun. I immediately sold my useless but awesome gun and grabbed a carry weapon for her. It's nice when our ladies decide to be responsible in family protection.

Free states are full of gentleman who buy 7x57's to hunt with and then discover they were appropriated by their wives.

Glad she's having fun. When you mentioned a little Asian woman, you should look up Bobbie Chow who was married to the iconic F. Bob Chow. She shot Bullseye with a 1911, as do I. She's my heroine because she couldn't have been any taller than 4'10".
She sounds like a keeper -- much happiness to both of you

Anyone with a good strong grip can handle a 45ACP. But it's not for the faint of heart. Neither is the 40 or the 10mm. All 3 of those are fairly powerful handguns.Ummm yea................... I didn't show her how to shoot anything. That target is at varying distances from 7-25 yards (48 shots) at varying times from 6-60 seconds.

The 9mm is slightly less than the 45ACP.
And the 38SP is slightly less again.
Everyone must experiment and decide.
I am surprised that she likes a 45ACP though!Comment

Having a woman like that has helped me tune in to certain things about them and shooting.
For example the following statements in this thread above would irritate her:

The best I can explain it is that’s presumptuous. The gears in her head will think “oh really…….”
I’m of the mindset anyone can shoot anything. All it takes is the correct grip, and not to flinch when the trigger is pulled. Everything beyond that are merely precision nuances.
I am guilty of such mentality myself. The first gun she bought herself was a Les Baer Premier II. I remember thinking “ummmm, are you sure you want to take that deep of plunge for a first gun”. THINKING mind you . I didn’t SAY a word.
Then I remember realizing I was being a “guy”. She makes more than me. I have two LB’s myself, and I never had any problem dumping that amount on a firearm. I would pick that one over anything else she was looking at prior as well. And it’s RIGHT THERE, on the shelf NOW!!!!!!!!!!! I had to wait 6 months to get mine. She’s just benefiting from my experience and is going right for the jugular without having to tinker with lesser 1911’s.
Though she was initially unsure about the 1911 because her experience prior to me were her special forces friends, and she only handled ones with all the tactical junk hanging off it. She has no problem getting a grip on a regular clean 1911.
We do shoot bullseye, and we are trying to get our Distinguished Shooter badges. So the 1911 pictured above is the regulation trim they have to be in. She got soooooooooo lucky finding that Springfield.

Mine is a Les Baer in such trim, but that would take over a year now to order (those don’t sit on shelves) if she wanted one, and that Springfield was $475!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in the consignment section of gun store.
I would have bought it myself, but I wasn’t going to be around for the 10 day wait. So she got it. ARGH!!!!!! I’m convinced it’s a 1980’s made Mil Spec that’s been worked on for bullseye, and she ended up getting a competition grade specimen for $475 because all you see is a 1911 Mil Spec that’s been modified (but how many people are walking around that know that it’s been modified in every specific way per the rule book). So it looked like a tinkered with 30 year old 1911.
Again, being a guy, I wanted to be “mine” :-)
The same end result still happened. I would never shoot it over my Les Baer, and now I don’t have to share at matches. It really doesn't work as a "back up" competition gun, because rules state you cant swap guns mid match (so it would just be another gun for the sake of a gun), and it was her $475 not mine that got spent. So I’m better off :-)

Snoopy, i really like what you wrote about her and why she would take offense to certain wording. so many here on calguns don't get it and think women are being snitty when they take exception to such wording. to read that a guy "gets it" and show how he's learned from it, well, it is priceless. thank you for sharing. love the picture with her and the guys in camo shooting!"The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her own pantyhose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound."-- as seen on a t-shirt
