    Mouse Guns/Pocket Pistols

    Hello Ladies...

According to at least one gentleman on this forum, women "gravitate" towards "Mouse Guns"? Is this true? Do you own a "Mouse Gun" or "Pocket Pistol"? If so, what do you have?

My little mouse is a Bersa Thunder 380. That's as small as I go. It seldom gets any range time-I just prefer the larger calibers!

Three of my shooter buddies have Mouse Guns/Pocket Pistols, 2 men & 1 women, and incidentally, the guys really like them!

I carry a Glock19, but I am in the market for a "mouse gun". I actually love that term I have never heard them called that before. I really want to see the new Glock pocket pistol.

Thanks for the link. I thought Dr. St. John's site disappeared after he died.

I have quite a few mouse guns and enjoy shooting them; most are C&R so there's some history involved in my interest. Although my wife has a wide choice of handguns available and sometimes carries larger guns, she often carries a Keltec P32 (because she wants to).

I have a Ruger LCP that I would be happy to let anyone try. I'm in the SGV area and usually shoot at La Puente or the monthly shoot at Burbank Firing Line.

If you are talking CCW, then a small 9mm or a .380 is great for someone who is smaller in stature.

I could not see myself trying to conceal, say, a Desert Eagle under my t-shirt.
On me it would look like trying to conceal Glamdring vs Sting. Would be downright silly.
The whole point of 'ccw' is to be 'ccw' not Johnny Rambo.

Maybe if I was 6'6" and weighed 250lbs and not 5'5" and 110lbs.

Myself, I do not own guns, as mine were all on a small plane while I was in the Rockies over a lake at 10,000ft when my engine caught fire and I had to bail to safety and hike out of the wilderness with a broken arm eating roots and berries and living by my wits.....

I don't think it's true that women gravitate to "mouse guns". I think it is true that many men push women to tiny guns, thinking they are doing the right thing. Personally, I shoot .40 and .45 caliber just fine.

However, I do know that lots of people, both men and women, find 'pocket pistols' easier to carry concealed in the summer heat. But I wouldn't consider anything under .380 for concealed carry.

Bear in mind that little guns tend to be real snappy with recoil, because there's so little mass to absorb the shock. The checkered metal grip on one .380 a friend owns, had regularly blistered my palm. ( I know, don't hold it so tight, hold it a little tighter, etc).

that and the fact that little guns usually are not all metal and one gets severe hand bite from the small caliber way worse than from the bigger caliber! less metal means less shock absorbing and more hand bite.

All correct, keeping in mind that the largest frame gun is easiest to manage, in a caliber that you are comfortable with. It that's .380 fine, if it's 10mm, fine.

I have a glock 42 and an xds. My wife prefers either my glock 19 or old ruger p85. She really likes the p85.

My wife got the Beretta 3232 Tomcat. She can't work most slides, the Tomcat has that pop up barrel she can load easily.

My first pistol was a 380 pocket pistol for concealing. I hated that damn gun.

My primary carry is now a single stack 9mm. Without concealing being an issue, I prefer larger guns. Sig 229 to me is the perfect size for a pistol.

This preference has nothing to do with caliber, just talking actual size.
