    European slant on Weapons Ban

I am subscribed to a channel called 'Skalligrim' and he is European. He talks a lot about a lot of subjects I find fascinating here is one called "But it's made to hurt people!"

It is very interesting to see how knives are banned for being black and tactical, makes one wonder.

The correlation between killer knives and EBR's is right on the money.

Any thoughts or discussion would be welcomed.

Moderator move this if it is appropriate, however I posted here just for the ladies, thanks!

I loved this and find it ironic that my in-laws are talking about their visit to Germany a few months ago right now. My MIL was a child during WWII and the part of Germany she lived in was "liberated by the Russian army. Her family was able to flee to the west when the wall was just a barbed wire fence.

This was her first visit since the formation of the EU and the ability to cross borders without passports or other controls.

Yes, most European countries have strict gun restrictions, but many citizens still get their guns. They have a long history of thriving black markets and paying off officials to look the other way.

Now, without border controls, people go to countries with little or no buying restrictions on firearms (mostly eastern European countries) and drive them back home. Firearms are more available than ever before. My FIL showed us today all the firearms all of our relatives in Germany keep discreetly stored in their basements or attics and shoot once a week at the private shooting club the belong to. The clubs have a policy of don't ask, don't tell. The police stay away. After all, only people who work and are law abiding join the shooting clubs and are not to be harassed by the police, they only go after the criminals.

It is all about appearance. It can work both ways. Ban it because it looks evil. Then the masses pretend to follow the ban and the leaders pretend to enforce the ban while those with the connections and money still get what they want.

The only problem with this type of pretending is when the government quits pretending.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

It is really interesting how information filters out to other countries and what the people there really think of our political issues.

Makes you think and wonder wtf are we really doing and do we actually know what we are doing?
