Me Likey.I love this woman. She is making gun owners look smart and gun haters look like tools. She has a new book out; she asked for photos of American gun owners so I sent mine in. I bought the book, found my picture and have been enjoying the text immensely!

Very nice! Did you ever find the balance between wearing hearing pro and eye pro? You should do a youtube channel like the other cute girls that shoot and have a million views.Originally posted here. I'm on the back cover of the book.

Thank you so much; that is a nice compliment. Yes, I did decide to start wearing ear plugs and then ear muffs so that the shooting glasses don't disrupt hearing protection. It still isn't a perfect system, but at least I can wear the glasses now.
As for the YouTube channel, I don't think I could stomach the comments people would make. I'm happier in smaller venues

Super video. She made a total fool of one of the most articulate commentators on American television. She held her cool, stayed with the rational and he looked like an emotional, hysterical fool.
In passing, "legally blind" does not mean totally sightless. Legally blind people wear strong glasses to qualify for drivers licenses all the time. My college room-mate was "legally blind" without glasses or contacts (there's a vision number involved in this, like 20/200, ten times worse than perfect vision. But WITH glasses or contacts she drove a car, went to college, roller skated, you name it. I trusted her with my beloved vintage MC Midget sportscar, I had that much confidence in her.
At the range where I work, we are seeing a huge upsurge in disabled people learning to shoot, hand guns, rifles and shot guns, all of it. I'm assuming they have figured out, or someone has, that the disabled are particularly vulnerable in assault situations. Also, it's obvious to the casual observer (me) that it's tremendously empowering for them.
I'm increasingly troubled by people who dispute that facts are not 'facts'. A fact has been scientifically or legally proven and is not a matter of opinion. The world is not flat. But we have people now who want to dispute scientific studies, which they usually haven't read, because they don't like the results.
But our friend Emily went on TV, looking like a lady, speaking like an intelligent woman, reciting her statistics clearly and succintly and held her ground. Emily rocks.Last edited by BonnieB; 10-04-2013, 6:36 PM.WHAT I HAVE LEARNED SO FAR, MOSTLY THE HARD WAY

BonnieB, if you want more of Emily, you can like her FB page and buy her book "Emily Gets Her Gun...But Obama Wants To Take Yours. Highly recommend! I practically cried when she finally got her Sig.Super video. She made a total fool of one of the most articulate commentators on American television. My college room-mate was "legally blind" without glasses or contacts, in that she was so nearsighted she couldn't pass the eye test at the DMV. But WITH glasses or contacts she drove a car, went to college, roller skated, you name it. I trusted her with my beloved vintage MC MIdget, I had that much confidence in her.

I have been following Emily and her story since January when I first discovered her column. She writes so well and sticks with facts.Super video. She made a total fool of one of the most articulate commentators on American television. She held her cool, stayed with the rational and he looked like an emotional, hysterical fool.

I almost sent in a picture with my story but I could not bring myself to do so. Still too many painful memories of not having a choice in using a firearm if I wanted my brothers and sisters and myself to live because my rifle was the only thing that stopped the bad guy. The anti's try to paint us as gun nuts ready to shoot anyone who even slightly annoys us. It is not that easy to pull the trigger on another human.
I also do not get the concern over people with disabilities participating in shooting. Are they supposed to just sit at home and not enjoy life?
I had a stroke 3 years ago which left me with slight visual problems in my left eye and some minor coordination problems. I am left handed but prior to the stroke shot ambidextrous. Since, I can only shoot left handed. School is on break so I went to the range today. I spent a few hours shooting my Glock and figuring how to use my left eye to sight it. Without an instructor telling me that I am doing it all wrong and confusing me I was able to figure out how the vision problem in my left affects the sight picture I see. I had never been comfortable shooting handguns before. After 700 rounds downrange, I can take out the center of the target and the recoil does not bother me. My rounds hit where I intend for them to hit.
Now, I am much more confident that I can defend my family and myself in my home and I now love shooting handguns. I have overcome another obstacle in my life.
As a teacher, I work with students that have different types of disabilities and my job it to help them find ways to compensate for their weaknesses by finding effective strategies to deal with them. I guess for our government that wants to be the solution to everything they cannot stand that someone with a physical or medical condition that interfere with their normal daily lives can actually still find a way to not need the government's help 24/7, including self-defense.Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.
A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.
Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?
