Daughter shoots AR for first time

This was actually over Easter weekend up in Calaveras County. We were gonna go up the road to another piece of property and shoot, but we got lazy and decided to use an old sawhorse with a packing pad over it for a benchrest. (besides, we didn't want to get too far away from the mountains of food up at the house!) For targets we stood up 3 inch wide log rounds at the edge of the pond and set soda cans on them. Average distance was 90 yds, and we were shooting downhill.

Her hubby teaching her the finer points of the AR. He's a former Marine and yeah, we busted his chops about his boot cut.

Apprehensive - "Dad, are you sure this doesn't kick like the shotgun?" "No, honey ...."

She shoots .... and scores! First 3 shots she knocked a can off the log. Later, she got 8 out of 10 - which was better than I did.

Afterwards - proud of herself - and so am I!

She did have a good time. I foresee more AR fun for her in the future.

And she did it all while hanging upsidedown! LOL.

Nice pictures Sierra. Shooting an AR is fun and a challenge at long ranges. Your a great Dad teaching your daughter how to shoot and shoot safely for fun. Nicely done.

I don't expect everything handed to me. Just set it down anywhere. Unknown
