Family member recently widowed, she is interested in firearms and traing, she is in Napa county. Are there any female shooting groups that could help her out?

I do stuff, but san jose is out of the way.

She is a totally new shooter, not shot anything, so some guidance would be appreciated.

The best thing would be for her to take a handgun safety course, usually about 1 day, half classroom, half range. The link above is an excellent choice.

When she is ready to buy a gun, we have a whole lot of info here on the women's forum on how a woman should choose her gun (and not let it be chosen for her).

Here in San Jose, Reeds (store) does offer some really good classes. She may be interested in checking that out.
