    First Time at the Range

I got out to the range with my Glock 19 for the first time today! It went so much better than I could have hoped. The guy working the pistol range was the FFL who transferred the gun to me, and he was wonderfully helpful and encouraging. I LOVE my new gun. Remember, I only shot the Gen 3 and had no idea how my Gen 4 would feel. I could not believe the difference in recoil between those two guns. I felt like the recoil was so much more managed in my Gen 4. I could be imagining it, but I don't think so. Also, for the first time, I actually hit the target where I was meaning to. My prior 3 times at the range were not as accurate, probably because I am left-handed but right-eye dominant and had to work that out.

    So. Much. Fun.

Nice. Glad you like your gen4. I'm right handed and left eye dominant and it's not an issue at all.

    What range is that?
Freedom in the USA is not the freedom from offense. It is actually the freedom to offend.

Nice form and good groups for first time out. Try and learn about trigger reset, I think you will find it help shrink your groups. Also, dry fire can help too. Keep shooting!!

Thanks! Is trigger reset when you pull the trigger all the way back to fire, then let it forward until a 'click' then pull back again? Like double tap?

Not telling. It's one of my best-kept secrets!

You're showing good technique, Glock Girl, letting your shoulders absorb some of the recoil.

Try also shooting from a bench rest.

I'm right-eye dominant and learned to shoot left-handed. The few times I shot right-handed, I was a decent shot considering I wasn't practicing with that hand.

              Keep at it!

Yes, although the fast guys say "double taps" are really just 2 fast singles. Just start by firing a shot and slowly release the trigger until you feel that click. Then fire the next shot from there. It's very much like shooting single action in a revolver. Just go slow, speed will come with time.

Oh yeah, you're shooting with the wrong hand too. Glocks are right handed!!

The Gen 4s are ambidextrous! Glock really did achieve perfection this time!

                    Great shooting.

What do you mean by the Gen4 is ambidextrous? I'm also left handed and quite interested to hear opinions from a fellow lefty.

Ambidextrous mag release. But you can't buy them here, as they are off-roster. Intrafamilial transfer or PPT.

gen 3 only have a release on the right hand person side. gen 4 has cut outs on both sides so you can do it from either side.

Actually, there is the Single Shot Exemption too. There are a couple of dealers in SoCal that do these and I think Sacramento Black Rifle does too.

going to the range really is fun, isn't it?!
