Eyes & Ears for the GF

My GF is starting to come with my to the range. We mostly go to indoor ranges. So far, I have let her use my eyes and ears and I use the the rentals from the range.

My glasses were too big for her. I am going to order a pair of each for her. Are there any particular brands that your ladies prefer?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

My GF hates the generic ear muff type protection as she says it pinches her ears and it starts to hurt after awhile. Also she doesn't like the in ear ones as they afford less protection indoors. Wondering if their certain brand that works better...

That is an option, but she was looking at the MidwayUSA catalog. I would prefer to not drive around that much. I just paid $4.39/gallon for gas.

I also have the same issue where they feel really tight on my head and hurt even after a short amount of time, plus they put too much pressure on my sunglasses (no good).

Are there any places that actually let you try the ears on? That would definitely make it so much easier.

I had worn some Peltor Shotgunners are the range that actually seemed to fit *on* the ear instead of around, and that felt more comfortable, but I can't seem to find them anywhere to buy some.

For ears I like the Howard Leight Sport Compact -Big 5 and Amazon carry ~ roughly $50.00.

I ordered the eyewear from Packing In Pink (one it was different and two I liked what I was supporting)

Both were/are very comfortable at the range.

At indoor ranges I use a pair of earplugs and the Howard Leight L1 by Sperian w/ headband style. I bought the HL range for $14 since I didn't want to waste money on renting. I had bought the cheap Whinchester a $10 pair from Walmart but they aren't nearly as comfortable at my Howard Leight ones. I wear prescription glasses and had no issues with the HL with my glasses or pressure on my ears. I can usually spend 2-3 hours easy at the range.

And I bought a huge box of the Howard Leight ear plugs off amazon . 200 a pair for about $14. That way if friends want earplugs too I got them covered.

Best thing to do is just have her try stuff on till she finds what she likes best. Good luck!

Sorry if it is a stupid question, but one does not just walk into a gun store and their are 5-10 different models you can put on... unless I'm mistaken...

If you use ear muffs it's good to make sure the eye protection specifically the arms are comfy when you have the muffs on.

I use Beretta youth shooting glasses. They fit perfect the first time I put them on. I liked them so much shooting skeet I got a clear pair for the indoor range. They were $38 and there are 6 different lense colors. They also have the same style in the adult/regular size.

I don't know where your located. I bought the persimmon pair at Pacific Sporting Arms in Azuza, and the clear pair at Fowlers in Orange.

You can actually try them on before purchasing them. Think of it as buying a gun. You'd want to make sure the gun is comfortable in your hand so why not make sure the earmuffs are comfortable on your ears. In simple terms of course.

The ones I see in the store are in plastic blister packs, sealed.

I haven't seen a shop yet that has a "demo" set of every model of earmuffs they carry... same with glasses.

Do you know something I don't?
