    Ladies.... Do you compete???

    Ladies!!! Ladies!!!

Just wondering how many of you compete in shooting competitions. I see very few ladies out at the matches and wondering what the best way to get women involved in the fun stuff!

Any ideas... Maybe a ladies only get together or event! ...

I have not competed but wish I had when I was younger and had slightly better eyes! The most I think I will be doing in the future is some Appleseed events, but hey I would come support/try anything that was "women only" in the Nor Cal area!

Maybe we can get a small "team" together and shoot at a IDPA match in Richmond?

If you want to run down to Merced, they put on nice little IDPA match (think it is the third Saturday of the month) and when I was there a couple of months ago, they had quite a few women.

We just had the IDPA match at SacValley and we had a good turnout...I think there were 10-12 women shooting

Winton is holding a non-sanctioned state match on 9/25! It's a gorgeous range... Lots of shade, great people and they are cooking!!! Check out their flyer and fb post!

On another note.... Regular IDPA matches are free for the chicas!!! ; )

I didn't see that many! Actually, just checked the results page for Sac Valley, and it says there were 7 ladies. That's a decent turn out.

I've become somewhat of a regular there, and there are a few others I see there every month too. It's fun! I'm trying to encourage more friends at work to get involved, but they're not quite ready to compete - still need to get them interested in buying their own guns!

I've thought about competing somewhere else once a month, although I'm a little limited by my schedule. I might be able to make Richmond or Winton on occasion.

I'm mainly a rifle shooter. I would like to compete in the milsurp distance rifle competitions one day but they aren't in my area. I think this year I'm improving enough to think that's possible. Good luck to the ladies who are in more mainstream, and more difficult, competitions - handgun comps would be beyond me. So precise. So not me.

It would be fun to compete or shoot around with more women; today at the range I heard "Gentlemen and LADY" several times which was a nice welcome but I wish there were more of us there, even just shooting recreationally.

There is a solution to that...plus some instruction would be a great confidence builder for them

Let me know too when you guys go, I'd like to join in on the fun. I think Winton is great with the shade and kinda in the middle... Lol gratis, makes it more appealing, especially for the new ladies... If we get enough maybe we can form our own squad. The last time I was there, there were tons of new male shooters also!

You should try to make this one, I understand the food is going to be good...plus the crowds are smaller than SacValley (we had over 130 this weekend). I can't make it, I have to be in Barstow Saturday to be in Prescott AZ on Sunday for a Gunsite class starting Monday morning

Wish I could make it. Unfortunately, working all weekend.

Need to check the NorCal schedule. Gryff posts this every month http://calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=471796

Seems like whenever I find a rare weekend day off, there aren't any local competitions.

I've also been looking at the rimfire competition in Gridley (mentioned in response to the thread above) - sounds like fun, and the ammo is a lot cheaper! Unfortunately, I have schedule conflicts this month and next for Gridley. I do always request off the first Sunday for IDPA at Sac Valley. Hope to see more of you out there!
