Need advice on a 9mm

I would suggest either a SIG P228, or a P229 with a 9mm conversion kit. Same gun, but the 229 is made for .40/.357sig so it has a beefier slide. The reason I say think about the 229 is that:
1) you can buy them new whereas the 228 isn't PRK friendly anymore and can only be found used
2) if you buy the 229 in .40/.357sig and get a 9mm barrel and mags, you can shoot 9mm all you want for cheaper practice, then switch to .40 or .357sig if you feel like stepping up the "power" (but i'll definitely preech that shot placement is key and a hit with a 9mm is better than a miss with a .40!). Basically, you get two guns out of one (And i believe the .357sig uses a 9mm barrel and .40cal mags, so if you bought a 9mm barrel and mags, you'd basically have 3 guns.....i think).

The SIG P228 is probably one of the best 9mm pistols ever made though and if you are planning on sticking with 9mm for sure and don't mind buying used, then I'd definitely look into it. Or if you can't find it used, you can buy a SIG P229 in 9mm, you just wont be able to switch to .40/.357sig without buying a new slide too.

(oh yeah, don't rule out Glocks until you've held them all. I thought for YEARS that I'd never own a Glock because I couldn't find one that fit my hand. Then I held the G23 and now I'm determined to buy one!)

I should point out that she has rather petite hands. She can 2-hand my P220R, but it's almost too big. That said, she doesn't necessarily want anything tiny, but a smaller grip would certainly be more in her comfort zone.

I just had to take the grip off my glock because it was like holding the top of a baseball bat practically. My roommate has a walther p99 and that thing is comfy as all hell to hold!

I'll just echo 9mmepiphany with the recomendation of the SIG P6
I love mine
It's not slimmer overall than a 228/229, but the grip radius is less and it fits my smaller hands really well

Hey All my fellow lady shootters,
In response to guns and what people like to shoot. Due to work, I carry a Glock. I switch between a 34/35 9mm/40. I don't carry the glock 45 due to it having a huge grip. My hand are not built that big. Our department may be allowing in the near future to carry the Springfield armory single action 45 or Kimber. If we are allowed to change. i will switch to the Springfield Armory. I guess its all personal preference of what you like to shoot.

Your signature says otherwise, clearly you've already come to the obvious conclusion that Glocks are perfect... why go for something less?

Me and two other friends are looking at guns and all of us agree that a Glock is not on the list for purely being the Honda of handguns.

Yeah you Glock guys have an answer but it is weak when I see 5 people sporting the same gun at the range. I'll pass on being the sheep.

The short list for us are:

92FS
S&W M&P9
FN9

Comfort was key for us. One is just waiting until the end of the month and is decided on the MP9. One is leaning toward the FN and I am leaning toward the 92FS over the SW.

All shoot well and agreed that the accuracy is more than enough for what are needs are for. Plus all of us agree everyone has a Glock and that makes it sheep.

FNX-9 is a great gun.
I have small to average hand size for a guy, but the FNX felt nice. I personally think it's a good size for a 9mm. Ambidextrous also for all the leftys like me.

However I went with the 92FS. Yes, it's on the larger side; and yes, you can definitely feel that you are holding a handgun. (size AND weight). But it's what I shot best with. It's also not as ambidextrous friendly as the FNX, but I didn't find it was anything to complain about. Except for the slide mounted safety, which is sort of a nuisance; but it wasn't a big enough deal to keep me from buying it.

or maybe Glock's are great guns that work for lots of people. You think you're the only one that thought their gun purchase through? maybe Glocks are comfy and accurate for a large group of people and THAT'S why so many people carry them.....but i guess if you happen to genuinely like one of the most popular pistols in the world because it fits your criteria of a good, reliable, comfortable handgun, then i guess you're a sheep...for doing what everyone says you should do.....and buying the gun that fits you.........stupid sheep!

My everyday carry gun is a Ruger SR 9 and I love it. My hubby just got a few Glocks which I have not fired yet (I am pregnant ) but they are just too big for my small hands to feel comfortable. I am strongly considering a Springfield XDM for my next purchase though.
