All women shooting class for my wife.

    Hello,

I feel like I kinda don't belong here because I am male

My wife wants to take a shooting class and learns better in a classroom environment as opposed to private lessons. She would also like to take a women only class.

Does anyone know where in the Los Angeles area she would be able to attend one of these please. Thank you!

You might try Woman Power, a self defense and firearms training outfit run by Nikki Todd . I don't know if she's running group classes right now, but I'm sure you can schedule some private instruction.

    or try nikkitodd@hotmail.com

Sorry, I'm up north, but I would also check the NRA's Women on Target schedule to see if one of your LA ranges hosts that program. I was in a shotgun class with 14 other women and two of our boys. It was well-run and no-pressure.

I've taken different shooting classes over the years, most are for both genders, very few are women-only. Women's classes definitely have a different vibe! So far I've only taken two women-only shooting classes:

The Ladies Pistol and Self Defense class from Bill and Cheryl Murphy at Firearms Training Academy in Corona. I've taken several other courses from them.

The NRA's Women's Wilderness Escape program is awesome! There are a number of NRA Women's Programs, including the Women on Target program which is designed to introduce women to shooting, and is held in different parts of the country.

I am about to attend a Babes with Bullets camp, looking forward to a new shooting experience!

Thank you Pax. I talked to my wife and she is going to the FTA in Corona on October 16-17th.

She is looking forward to it.

I bought her a sig p228 to take the class with.

I had her shoot my blackwater p226, glock 17, p2000 9mm and beretta 92fs. She doesnt want a safety to mess with and the p226 with 20 round mags were a little heavy for her so I thought a p228 would be nice. She still thinks it a little heavy but I explained to her the heavier the gun the less the recoil and she can always rest.

WOMEN ON TARGET is wonderful! Lucerne Valley Lion's Club offers pistol, rifle and shotgun in one day for only $25. One-to-one instructor/student ration. Wonderful program.

Call around to the local ranges. That might be a good idea. That's how I found the group of women I shoot with now.

Glad that I could be of service! One nice thing about the FTA Women's class is that on the 2nd day, the staff lines up many different types of handguns from their personal collection for students to try. These range from 22lr to 45acp, some of them have smaller grips, and have different types of sights. This way students can get a better idea of what fits their hand, and what they like and dislike.

I hope your wife enjoys the class. Be sure to check the weather before the class and dress appropriately for the outdoor range.

Drop a note to 9MM or NorCalMama and see what they say. They're both in the Sac area.

REALLY poor choice. Instructor is erratic and too opinionated to teach.

A little late but Civilian Arms Training in Chino Hills offers a women's only class.

I think Orange County Indoor Shooting Range in Brea, CA offers some women only classes.
A quick call to your favorite local indoor shooting range is always a good place to start when looking for instruction. If you tell them exactly what you want, you will probably get some good referrals.
