Anyone know a good stun gun?
Taiwan born, Chinese descent, red white and freaking blue America citizen.
Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.Tags: None -
I've had a few, shocked a few friends even
and really I think a Tazer is much better, even pepper spray would be more effective. Tazers can also be used like a stun-gun (at least x26 type could be). Check out the C2 model:

With the 'probes' in an attacker, controlling a situation becomes a matter of standing 10ft away and pulling the trigger if he tries to move. Much safer IMO and will defeat something like a heavy sweater in most cases.
But ya I am guilty of buying two-pair of these intimidating mofos:

I would avoid any weapon that requires direct contact pepper spray is a much better choice IMHO. Tasers are very effective but prices start at $350, pepper spray can be found for under $20.Last edited by Trapper; 05-03-2010, 6:31 PM.When the battle drum beats, it is too late to sharpen your sword."

Exactly, direct contact is a clincher and with the taser you can be sure to hit skin (yes it is expensive but the only legal LTL device that's got a great track record with LEO) . Kimber actually makes a really nice pepper spray/shot device that is accurate at quite a distance and a single hit should mean at least mild incapacitation for longer than 30 seconds.
Recovery time from a quick 50k stungun hit might be 3-4 seconds if anything.

These are gone now, but since when are composite knuckles illegal? I had some abs knuckles that I was 'assured' were CA legal at the time a few years ago. It's not part of the nunchuku law is it?
I might note that this very item (blast knuckles) is being sold in the Calguns forums as 'CA Legal' as well:

Go with a taser c2 I have one as well as an x26 and m18. I carry the c2 regularly you can use it as a contact stun or the probes. Does well in a pocket and the first shot is 30 seconds and u can reapply as needed. We tased a guy in the winter with one and he had a huge jacket on. C2 still took him down. As far as oc spay goes it's ok in a pinch but too many factors( all too common) cause oc to fail. I only have spray on for dogs since owning a taserComment

+1 on the Taser
+100 on the pepper spray (if that's an option)
I've gone through half a dozen stun guns in my life, and none of them have ever been convenient enough to carry on my person. Albeit, this was decades ago and they're much smaller and slimmer. I've accidentally zapped myself and know they definitely work! Spend the extra money and have your lady friend get the best she can afford, hopefully C2 or X26. Life is too precious to spend money on junk.I'm not having a glass of wine, I'm having SIX. It's called a tasting and it's classy.

I am both a Taser and chemical agent instructor and have I have been pepper sprayed and tazed more time then I care to remember. I have also pepper sprayed a number of bad people in my life. If given the choice, I would take Taser as number 1, High quilty flashlight with stobe as number 2 and pepper spray as last for none- lethal choices. Do not underestimate the power of the flashlight, I have used them many times when dealing with combative people, even in well lit rooms. Take a look at O-light, Fenix and Surefire lights.
