reinforcing the importance of the individuals trying things for themselves.....just like the original handgun purchase in the first place.

people can make suggestions but until the individual tries things out for themselves and is realistic about their own limitations [not what their SO or anyone else thinks they should be able to do] can one decide what is going to work.

Which is exactly why we work so hard to give people the chance to try before they buy. It's also why we ask people to try things they weren't considering, not because we want to sell them the item, but so they are educated and can make an informed decision later, or help someone else who is seeking.

I can't tell you how many people would rather just order something off the net.

My caution is that even if someone orders the right thing, they can relegate it to a failure because they haven't been trained. Like a fire extinguisher. It's not intuitive to spray the base of the fire, most people put it on top. Many buy a fire extinguisher for the kitchen (you do have one in your kitchen right?) but it's not rated for grease. You have to know what your buying, how it works, and when it wont.

We try our best because we start with the premise that every life is valuable and precious.

Off my soap box. (Oh we did find a woman owned gun store in Corona that we really like if anyone cares).

start another thread, grantar, for the woman owned corona store!
otherwise, it will just get buried in this thread.
        thanks!

and, yes, people should definitely try things not considered.

It's really true about situation and limitations. One time a woman wrote in to ask how to carry IWB wearing yoga pants. I had absolutely no ideas to offer, and you know how often THAT happens. If you are wearing something that is meant to be revealing, such as leggings, yoga pants, low necklines, etc., you really have to think of alternative carry methods. Or else you can consider your priorities and maybe dress differently.

And (smirk) those of us Baby Boomers who will live and die in blue jeans really don't have these problems. Always assuming there's enough room inside those jeans for both you and your carry weapon...

And a new idea. I think everyone who plans to carry, regardless of gender, should sign up for a handgun competitive league, where the shooting is timed. You'll learn a whole lot about yourself, when you are under time pressure and have to perform optimally in a really chaotic situation. You may not draw as well as you think, you may not shoot as well as you think you will, in the middle of all that noise and smoke and people moving around behind you. The distraction level is brutal. You will probably lose your cool at least once if not more often. All that is a good metaphor for the life-and-death situation you are carrying for, in the first place

Funny story, four years ago at SHOT Show I got essentially yelled at by her for suggesting locking purses for when you attention is distracted or your have the purse out of your control. Apparently the trainer they like to reference Cornered Kat, didn't think much of the idea. About three weeks after the show that mom in Idaho was shot by her child well she was in WalMart. Now they have a couple of models that lock.

Quality product but not forward thinking.
