A Girl and A Gun Orange County

The website for AG&AG OC is now up and running. The ladies have been gathering and shooting together for about four months now, and the group is growing and having fun.

Date is posted for the training conference in Texas 2016 for those that like road trips.

Attention women shooters, here it is! CA - Orange County!

If you are interested in plinking, honing in your skills a bit, learning basics of gun ownership, a new shooter or just enjoy the company of like-minded women, I highly recommend AGAG!!

I have RSO'd a couple of these and have met many women who attended. Each event starts with classroom time, I think the last one covered basic cleaning. Then everyone gets range time to learn or practice. There are NRA certified instructors; all of whom are very passionate, kind and knowledgeable.

$12 covers handgun rental, a target, eye/ear pro and the wonderful staff who put this on.

This is the best event for women who are looking for a cost effective introduction to handguns and don't want to be in a stall next to a 45-70 lol. It's mostly 22, only a couple of 9 and 45 shooters, so for the ones who get anxious when they hear loud gun shots; this is great.

FT3 is great, the membership for A Girl and A Gun is low. The benefit is that you usually have multiple NRA certified instructors available to you at no additional cost. They are great with new shooters, and very welcoming. Plus FT3 is the cleanest shooting range I have ever seen.

Not sure on a regular basis. The night we presented concealed carry systems to the ladies, there were about 30. About a quarter also had their significant others there, but the guys didn't attend the meeting nor share the range the ladies were on. They shot on a different side.

Since it's a membership organization I assume they are pretty consistent or growing. The gal who runs the chapter is a very energetic leader, and solid trainer. She is on staff with FT3 which provides the other trainers as well.

I found even the novices to be engaging, and certainly motivated shooters. Not sure how there early league competitions have gone.

For those who want something other than A Girl and A Gun shooting league we recently did an event where all the So Cal Chapters of A Well Armed Woman got together for a competition and product show in Riverside and that drew well over 200 women.

My gf is interested but is this a formal competition or something similar to the cgssa monthly shoots? More laid back...

She wants to shoot with other women but not ready to compete yet....

Being male, I don't get to attend, were just a sponsor, and have done some training classes for them. I wouldn't say informal. There is usually a meeting time where a topic is discussed, could be CCW, could be gun cleaning, could be target transition. Then there is range time. All levels are accommodated. I saw ladies who joined the day we were teaching our module, that literally didn't know what a slide was, and were happily shooting by the end of the session as we packed up our gear.

The concept seems to be structured along the lines of a bowling league. Lot of time to learn, be social with a little team competitive marksman ship thrown in. It for women by women so they seem to have it structured in a format that resonates with them. I saw 20 somethings having fun with 60 somethings, although the majority were 20-30. Very much worth checking out.

A Girl and A Gun seems focused on shooting for the joy of shooting. The Well Armed Woman has the joy of shooting, but there is an underlying current of know how to use a gun, don't be a victim, either from someone you don't know, or someone you do.

Thanks....that's the info i was looking for. She knows the basics and safety but has little confidence. I blame it on not enough range time (about 2x a year)

I'm going to sign her up soon and see how she likes it. She liked WOT so I'm hoping she will like this too...

What I have been told by the members is that they really enjoy it. The nice part about AG&AG is they meet in the evening.

On-Target in Mission Viejo / Laguna Niguel has a "Better Half women's group that meets on Wednesdays in the morning, and I believe Thursdays in the evening" I have given a presentation to the morning group, they are mostly older, but again really avid shooters, ranging from newbies to IDPA competitors" Randi does a great job with it.

I am sure other ranges have similar programs, but I don't know of them. The fact that it's led by women, for women, and they often have the similar shared experiences helps.

I know they love the shooting, because in each case when they loved our presentation, and came to shop with us later. But when the leader said range is open (meaning to the ladies only) they were a blur headed to the line. So whatever the secret sauce these organizations have it is consistent as far as I can tell.

I hope she knows you're going to sign her up....and if she goes, please let us know what she thought of it.
