    Akward Conversations

So people are beginning to find my little concealed carry store. One of my recent customers came in just to see the store he was in the area, and he ended up buying a couple of things from me.

In the process of showing him the holsters, and accessories, I made a point to show him our women's collection in the event his wife carried or considered carrying. He said he was working to convince her too, but had no idea what gun to get her. I suggested he let her explore for herself. This was actually the first time I had products in hand, was making a sale, and suggested to another man, that allow his significant other to discover her own path on selecting a fire arm, and then told him about one of the local trainers we support that has a free ladies night every Thursday night.

He was very agreeable, but since most of us guys like to solve things and give gifts, suggesting an independent path was awkward.

I"m trying to get my wife into shooting too. She has shot every one of my guns except my marlin rifle and mosin...she knows the recoil is too much for her She's shot my AK, 17 HMR and 12 gauge and mp22...she likes the 17 and 22 the most...I do want to take her gun shopping soon so she can get her own...I view this way, I shop for guns that work for me, so I feel she should do the same. it's really common sense isnt it? or is that just me?
Plus I have the advantage of good friends lettin her shoot anything in their collection, she out shot me with a M9 and me on a 1911 on a shooting tree....3 times in a row. She loved that gun...hmm I think a trip to the LGS is due soon. lol

        definitely common sense, amishfarmer.

perhaps another range date and let her shoot that M9 again......with a stop at the LGS on the way home?

Grant, you did the right thing. Guys do like to solve problems, and often think they know what's best. And " the customer isn't always right, but the customer is the customer".

It's best to offer information you believe in, but "you can lead 'em to water but you can't make 'em drink..." It might be good to say "Has your wife seen the Women's Forum on Calguns? She'd probably like to hear what they have to say"

Amishfarmer, you're on the right track. It's best for a woman to find a gun she loves by shooting as many as possible and then getting it on her own at the LGS. Hubbies, sit in the car and listen to the ball game while she's shopping. She can handle it on her own. I promise.

            2 words - Gift Certificates!

"With guns being such a personal item I never put myself in the position of suggesting a certain model. But once your .... decides what she wants, I would be happy to personally assist her in finding the CC option that works best with her lifestyle. We do have gift certificates (point) if you want to have something that you can wrap up for her."

I like youprint.com - good quality and you can order small quantities.

One suggestion though, if you were to decide to go the whole 9 yards and provide a box and bow with said certificates, DO NOT package it in a way that could be mistaken for a gift of jewelry!
