Have any of you followed the Emily Miller series, Emily Gets Her Gun? Emily is a journalist who was the victim of a home invasion while house-sitting for her friend in Washington D.C. Though at the time she was a Conservative, she had not ever taken an active interest in firearms. That night as she lay in bed haunted by the fear of the criminals' return, with furniture pushed up against the door and no recourse for self-defense, she began to want a gun. D.C. has made it almost impossible just to OWN a legal gun and keep it in the home. She did as series that ran in The Washington Times documenting her quest, which was egregious, let me tell you. And until last year, D.C. let NO ONE carry outside the home. After a landmark court case, the District now is a may-issue entity. Miller decided to try to obtain a carry permit and after 3 long months, we finally have the result.
