You should try Securitas, Andrews Int, Simon and G4S. They are the much larger security companies out there and you probably have a better bet getting a job with them.

The main reason why I dont apply at big companies is because I have no drivers license. I went to Riverpark because its near me. And there security is from Turner Security. I found that out when I gave Riverpark my resume. So If I get employed by Turner Security I would be working at Riverpark and wouldnt have to worry about going to other places.

          Dear Amuro1990,

Have you considered applying outside of your area? I know you said that you are sort of "trapped" where you are because of your lack of a car, but, larger cities, like Los Angeles, are in a security gaurd boom right now, they can't find enough people for their positions. The reason this is so, is because of the economy, in bad times, people get very concerned about security in high population areas, like the greater downtown area, every single high rise apartment building in Downtown LA, has a full time 24hr staff of these guys patrolling the perimiter of the building, inside the building, the entrance is gaurded 24/7/365, and they patrol the whole building, basement washing machine area, parking lots, EVERYTHING is constantly patrolled and surveyed. This is because the people who live in these buildings, like me, I live in a downtown LA High Rise, are very concerned about the safetey of their lives and homes, because so many homeless and destitute people wander the streets in these areas 24/7/365. There are HUNDREDS of there high rise apartment/condo buildings all over downtown, HUNDREDS I TELL YOU, all with full time security gaurd staffs !!! All downtown businesses, except very small donut shops or coffee shops, have their own security gaurds, heck, even the City of Los Angeles, hires Security Companies to patrol the inner city parks and city buildings, they cost alot less than police do to do the same job !!!

Call around, or better yet, get online and send out your resume to the Major LA area Security Gaurd Companies, the ones downtown wouldn't care about not having a car, our public transportation/subway system in LA is very extensive, most low income people don't have cars in LA anymore, you DON'T NEED ONE !!! You can go anywhere, do anything, and be there on time, cheaply, on the LA Transit system, anytime of Day or NIGHT !!! I have seen, many, many security gaurds in the downtown area riding the busses and subways, it is common place out here !!!

Tell them about your particular position at the moment, you are trained, you are certified, you desperately want full time work, you will go back and get more training and certificates, as time and money allow, and... YOU WILL RELOCATE for the right job !!! (You can ask for a re-location loan from bigger companies, mostly they will advance you the money, you have to pay it back, it's a loan, but it HELPS alot, and, they will make it as easy on you as they can, low payments, over a year or so, out of your paycheck automatically, I have done this myself when I had to re-locate for a job. And, having a loan like that is a good job security thing, they aren't going to let you go right away if you owe them re-location money !!!)

I would also suggest some basic emergency care training, like taking a course, and getting a cerificate in emergency first aide. The Red Cross, offers such a course, and a certificate, very, very affordably, and it is a very useful thing for someone like you to have. CPR training, choke training, basic emergergeny wound training, even severe wounds, like ones requireing a tourniquiete are covered. They give you BOTH a wall certificate, AND a wallet card, and you need to renew it every couple of years, it is well recognized as an official certificate.

I cycle alot, and on the bike trails bike accidents are common, I took that course as a mater of public service, I have aided many injured cyclists, of all ages, on a volunteer basis. I carry a large, very large, first aid back pack with a red cross on the back, and I wear a "RED Cross Emergency Volunteer" 'T' shirt when I cycle on long runs... It has come in very handy, and the injured people I have aided, have all been so very thankful to me, even the young kids fall over saying "Thank You!" to me for minor scrapes and cuts!!! I do this, only as a private public service to my community, it would be a nice little note on your resume, to have a public service notation on your resume like that, it would be VERY IMPRESSIVE to future employers to have such a civic minded person on their staffs !!! (Heck, just take the course, and start up a bike safety patrol in your own area, in conjunction with either the Local Red Cross, or a local cycle club, having some sort of official affiliation is also impressive, especially if, YOU are the person that founded your local bike safety patrol program !!! Get CREATIVE kid !!! Market YOURSELF !!! And REMEMBER, you are NOT ALLOWED to give out medication of ANY KIND, not even an aspirin, you can get into some serious legal trouble that way !!! What I do, is I tell someone, I can't give you anything, not even an aspirin, but, there are a couple bottles in my pack, right here, one is Ibuprofin, an over the counter pain aide, one is plain generic aspirin, and one is a tylenol like generic, I carry those for my own personal use, there is also a water bottle in my pack too, right there, I need to step over to the side for a moment, if you were to borrow something, without my knowledge, well, I don't know anything about that do I?)

I am sure, nearly positive, you would have MORE THAN ONE OFFER within a WEEK !!!

Good luck young man !!! And CHIN UP !!! A fine young dedicated person like you will eventually get a very good job, and I am sure, in a few short years you will end up a supervisor, or a security gaurd captian in no time !!!

          Sincerely,

          David ... aka... Elvin Warrior

laugh as you may but my buddy had an opportunity to move up as an Asset
Protection Manager making about 40k to a Market Asset Protection Manager. They make close to 100k and after bonus your looking wayyyy north of that depending on how your stores do. He also started as an Asset Protection Associate making 13hr which is awsome if you really knew what the job entailed of doing. Needless to say it wasnt a bad job.
