    Looking for work

I am 59 yrs young, and have been out of work for 2 yrs. In Jan 2014 I was involved in a motorcycle accident, and took 14 months to rehab.

For over 20 yrs I was in the environmental work on under ground fuel tanks, also maint on gas station equipment. I have been trying to get back in the industry but I think my age is getting in the way of success.

Well that's it I pray someone out there can help.

I wish you good luck. You have 2 things working against you, You are over 40 and you have had an Injury. Both those facts will be used to discriminate against you, Yes it is against the law to discriminate for either of those but it happens anyway. I am just over the 40 mark and I also had a serious injury many years ago, A back injury that is now basically 100% healed up and has not been an issue for years, but I have had hiring managers suggest to me not to mention my time out of work in the past be due to an injury because you will be discriminated against. If at all possible, explain your time out of work as being self employed or doing other work for yourself and an independent contractor, luckily for me, while I was physically not able to work for a short time, I did do some online work from home so can put that as what I was doing during that time and not mention my past injury. I had gone a long time being totally honest about it and explaining it is healed now and I am happy to take any medical examinations to prove it, but it scares them off. You are better off telling them you were locked up for something during that time you were out of work, You would probably be more attractive to them then telling them about your injury. I know how ****ty the job market is now days, it is not a job seekers market, employers get so many applications now they can be really picky and take their time. These days you tend to have to know someone to get on somewhere even when you are very qualified and have great references, it's like that does not matter any longer. Good luck, just keep looking and applying.
