    intrafamily transfer

Am I correct in that my son can transfer a hand gun he purchased/ registered and no longer shoots to me without an ffl getting involved? I own several firearms of my own and have gone thru several dros/ bg checks and have no legal issues. I just like the firearm and he wants me to have it sooo?

If your son is also a California resident then yes you can use this.

If he's not you will need to use a FFL.

(Since this is a CA law question rather than an FFL question, I was about to move it.

But then I thought of all the stories of FFLs advising their customers poorly on this kind of transfer - not our Calguns member FFLs, to be sure - and decided a visitor might like to see this.)

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Ok great, thanks for the quick reply. Yes we are both current CA residents so it looks like we are good to go
        Thanks again

Good call. We get this question on a regular basis and there is a TON of misinformation out there about how these transfers work.
