Hey FFL's!

So, I'm getting ready to DROS an awesome sks. I know there is now a mandatory safety demo and was just wondering what they are looking for specifically. This would be my first sks so when I inspect before buying and then pick up after dros - it will be my first time having hands on experience with that particular model of gun.

Your FFL should walk you through the process. You will load and unload and apply a lock. The FFL should also walk you through some common malfunctions and what to do if they happen.

As of a few days ago the actual regulations detailing the steps have not been finalized by the DOJ. There is a guide available to dealers that details steps to perform the safe handling demonstration of common firearms, and the SKS should be similar enough to the semi-auto rifle guide for the dealer to walk you through loading and unloading it and locking it up with a gun lock to prevent unauthorized use. Don't point it at anyone while you're performing the demo and keep your finger off the trigger the entire time and you should be golden.
