CA CCW holder exempt from long gun FSC?

I see conflicting posts as to whether a CA CCW holder is exempt from FSC for handguns AND long guns. One of our regular clients was told by Turners that his CCW does exempt him for both. Thoughts?

Penal code says yes. (CCWS are exempt from both)

Reports of DOJ contact claim their answer is no (handguns only). Could be an official stance or just someone at the DOJ is misinformed.

I have not yet seen reports of 2015 audits where this was an issue.

IMO, the penal code is clear and dealers should continue to use the exemption.

I don't know for sure but I have also heard that a state hunting license exempts you from the FSC. If that is the case, I can't see a reason that a CCW wouldn't also meet this requirement. If the objective of the FSC is to ensure that the potential owner can demonstrate safe handling procedures of a firearm, both a CCW and a hunting license should meet the qualifications for an exemption as both documents require this.

CCW good for both, hunting license for long guns only.

According to the PC and DOJ faq CCW exempts you from both. C&r only for C&r handguns, and hunting license only long guns.

DOJ Frequently Asked Questions still only lists "proof of residency" requirement for HANDGUNS...
