Is it DOJ or the shop

I have a question that I was hoping to get some input from you on. I recently tried to purchase a off roster handgun using my LEO identification. The shop I went to would not accept the 10 day wait waiver from my captain because he didn't include the Jr. in my name. I figured ok that's dumb but I decided to just buy the gun and wait. A few hours after doing all of the paper work and paying for the gun the shop calls me and tells me that they can't sell me the gun because my peace officer identification doesn't have the Jr. in my name. They said that DOJ would shut them down if they proceeded with the sale. Is this true? Is there anything I can to to buy the gun or am I SOL?

That's lame. You can still buy it. You can try and show them a certificate from whatever academy you went to as long is it has something in there about pc 832. Maybe the certificate has the jr (?)

If you are buying the gun as a LEO to be used on duty the letter must be signed by the Chief and not you Capt.

        From DOJ:
        IMPORTANT REMINDER
PEACE OFFICER 10-DAY WAITING PERIOD EXEMPTION
        WRITTEN CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT
Proper identification authorizing full-time, paid peace officers [as defined in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with Section 830) of Title 3 of Part 2] exemption from the 10-day waiting period described in Penal Code Section 26815 must be obtained from the head of agency by which the purchaser or transferee is employed [PC Section 26950(b)(1)]. The written certification shall authorize the purchase or transfer, identify the purchaser or transferee as a peace officer who is authorized to carry firearms while in the performance of duties, and authorize the exemption from the 10-day waiting period. Written certifications by persons other than the head of agency shall not be accepted to waive the 10-day waiting period.

Have the HR department just issue a new ID with Jr on the card.
