Educate me on AR Pistols please

Hey guys I have decided I want an AR pistol. I'm not 100% sure what the laws are about them.

Are there any FFL's that sale them?

Can I ship them to a CA FFL? If so do I need to do SSE?

What are the "must know" before trying to purchase one?

There are no AR pistols on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale.

They are typically transferred as dimensionally compliant single-shot pistols.
On 01-01-2015, the single-shot pistol exemption will change and the new changes will effect AR pistols that have been manufactured as semi-auto pistols.
So, if you want an AR pistol that is currently manufactured as a semi-auto pistol, you will need to acquire it as a dimensionally compliant single-shot pistol before 12-31-2014.

In order to be CA legal, AR pistols must always have a maglock and utilize a magazine that holds 10 or less rounds.

Above is correct. You will need to do a SSE and it has to happen before dec 31st 2014.

If you order online and ship to ffl, it must ship as a complete pistol. You cannot just buy a lower and build your upper like a rifle, it must be dros'd as a complete pistol and most ffls and online stores require to ship as such.

I bought an upper from PSA and a complete lower from Funk ammo, but had to ship the upper to funk, let them assemble and ship back to my ffl.
