    A & D Book Correction Possible?

    Hypothetical.

2 new guns arrive separately but on the same day. Same make and model, different wholesale source. ONE is entered in the A & D on, say, January 01, 2014. At end of the week inventory, the second gun is found but was not entered in A & D but other guns have already been entered. The second gun is entered on, say, January 8, 2014 but the late entry is entered as the acutal date of acquisition. Dealer ASSUMED it was the 1/1/14 entry so the 2nd gun never got logged when it arrived.

    A & D would look like:

    01/01/14 Colt, 1911, Ser. # 12345, etc.

    01/02/14 Kahr, P9, Ser. # 01234, etc.

    01/05/14 Kimber, Warrior 2, Ser. # 56789, etc.

    01/07/14 Glock, 19, Ser. # 87654, etc.

    01/01/14 Colt, 1911, Ser. # 98765, etc.

Best way to correct or leave as is?

    THANKS.

If you have an invoice with all the required information on it, then you have a week to log in the firearm.

With that said, it is best to just leave it.

That's happened to ......and he just drew another line all the way across both pages and above (or below) where the entry should have been made and entered the firearm appropriately making note of the date of actual acquisition.
In other words, made two entries on the same printed line. During an inspection the question was asked if such a notation was appropriate and the Rep. saw no problem.
It's not a falsification cause you are entering actual/factual information and placing the entry where it should have been in the first place.

I think you did more than you needed to. The person I know at the BATF said that just entering when you noticed it was acceptable (your IOI may vary), but remember you have 7 days if the invoice has ALL of the information on it (make, model, caliber, etc.).
