    Travel/Transfer question

My son is planning to visit from Texas, and he wants to bring his Glock 34 to shoot while he is here. The plan is to bring it with him, without any magazines, appropriately locked up and declared per the airline rules. While he is here he will use some 10 round 17 mags.

On return, he is considering shipping it back instead of worrying about issues declaring it at LAX. Can he ship it directly to his local FFL back in Texas, or does he need to have that done by an FFL here?

I understand he would have to go to a real FEDEX location to do the shipping.

Just trying to do things by the rules.

    Your advice is much appreciated.

He can ship his personally owned firearms to himself in Texas. UPS, FedEx, etc. will require overnight shipping.

he has to leave his 17 round mags in texas. He can ship his own (handgun) to himself in the us by way of ups or fedex overnight. No requirement that it go thru ffl. Long guns he can ship to himself usps parcel post.

Yes. And it will cost $. Be sure he insures it. Plan on $100 bucks.
