    PPT "PAID FOR' STATUS

The tread on the abandoned PPT got me thinking.
Say you put a handgun up for consignment at a FFL. A month or so later,
the FFL tells you the gun has been bought and paid for, but the buyer has not done the paperwork yet.
The FFL pays you the amount due to you in the transaction. Two months later, you ask if the buyer has done the paperwork, and the answer is no.
What is the ownership status as far as the seller is concerned? Is it still the property of the seller, the buyer, or the FFL?
Is this gun still DROS'ed to the seller as far as Ca.DOJ is concerned?
Is there a DROS status showing that a handgun is in possession of an FFL on consignment, or is the last DROS record still to the seller?
Is there a point were the seller should ask the FFL to contact the buyer to complete the transfer, or return the gun to the seller?

When I did consignment I didn't pay out seller until buyer cleared DROS. I did notify the seller that it was "sold", but that I couldn't pay out till buyer cleared.

Property of the seller according to DOJ. Money changing hands is civil matter.

Yes because it hasn't been PPTd yet

The FDAS will show the FFL acquired the firearm, but it doesn't change ownership. Up to seller since it's on consignment. FIrst buyer could fall through and FFL can find second buyer.

Things remain much easier if FFL doesn't pay out seller until transaction complete. Not sure how how dealers do this.

Dealer paid you for gun, Dealer owns gun now. Simple as that.

So would you go back into FDAS and acquire the gun vs consignment?
Does that then change the PPT status in regards to consignments of non-rostered handguns since the FFL would become the owner?
Would the dealer owning the gun also negate the 1-30 exemption of said firearm going forward since it can no longer be run as PPT?
