Smith and Wesson Letter "A" on Frame

    Hello Everyone,
First,we want to say that we are a new dealer up in Truckee and want to say hello.
Second, does any know about the purpose of CA requiring S&W revolvers to be stamped with the letter "A" on the inside of frame above the cylinder? Noticed a new list of approved handguns came out and they all have the "A" added to the last digit.

Those are the only CA legal revolvers now from S&W. Not sure what changed, I think someone posted a S&W memo a few weeks back. If you get one of those SKUs without the "A" it can no longer be transferred to the normal folks.

You have to look at the CA Roster and check the particular smith revolver you have. If on the roster there is an "A" at the end of the sku then there has to be an "A" marked on the top strap of the revolver. Not all the SKUs have changed on the roster to include an "A".

Has any FFL in California found any source for the "A" marked revolvers yet?
