    Confiscated guns sold by FFL

There is a local shop here that is selling guns that were previously confiscated by the PD. All serial numbers are in tact. PD sold them to the gun shop to help pay for rifles for the department that the shop produces. Then the shop sells these guns as part of their inventory. If I were to purchase one of these guns and got stopped by a game warden or sheriff while shooting in the hills and for whatever reason decided to run the serial # on the gun. What, if anything would come up when they ran the serial? Would it show like running a car fax on a car? Would it show that it was confiscated by PD then sold to an FFL then sold to me? I definitely wouldn't want it showing that it was used in a crime and i have it in my possession and it not showing anything about PD confiscating it and selling to an FFL and selling to me.

    Thank in advance

Interesting. I thought all PDs had stopped doing this. Maybe it's just my area. If a firearm can't be returned to the owner, or is not released for the owner to sell to a FFL, the gun has to be destroyed. We do part out the guns and sell everything but the frame.

Incoming fire has the right of way.

I don't think when they run the serial number it shows the history. Maybe post in the LEO forum since they run checks and should be able to confirm if there is any history associated with a firearms check.

My local PD just bought the whole department new handguns on a trade in that included a years worth of seizures and such. I don't know the exact laws but I'm sure it's legal after a period of time and the serial numbers are cleared upon sale the the dealer

They would just show as registered to the new owner. No problems.

          BUT

Quit holding out on us. Name the shop so we all can shop

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

Thank you for all the info. The shop selling them is Kaufmann Tactical Firearms in Fresno. The only had a couple of guns left. I picked up a Remington Model 51 in .32 acp. Not the greatest condition but not bad for a gun that's 90 years old. And it was only $40.00 before tax and fees.

that pistol for $40 ,even with all the other fee's, is a bargain.

any gun that works for that kind of money is a good deal in my opinion.

                how does it work?
