    HSC Test on Computer

    Saw this in another thread:

Most LGS I have been to do the test on a computer now.
How many of you have a computer based HSC test?

    Where do I get one?

Never seen it. Didn't know it was possible.

You can get the study guide online.

I wonder if he meant they have the DROS based paperwork on computer. I have used that many times (and prefer it). I have never seen the HSC test on a computer at any shop I have been to. Not saying he is wrong, but I have just never seen a HSC other than a paper based test. A computer test makes sense and would be easy, but to say "most LGS shops".. I highly doubt that.

I was hoping with this new FSC that it would be computer based and we would be able to print cards and pay as you go. I am so sick of waiting for cards. I think DOJ knows when you are busy and they will take 6 weeks instead of 3 weeks to get the cards back to you.

Thanks for starting this halifax. It obviously didn't sound right to me either but, if they exist, I want to know how to get them too.

I heard that the FSC would be through the current DES system, but I don't recall where I heard that, so I can't provide the proof.

There was an "Important Notice" about FSC materials being made available through the DES system and paid for via the same but I don't recall any plans to administer the test online.

An Industrious dealer with lots of time on their hands can could certainly build an online test using purchased software that prints out the results and corrects the answers. For the thousands of transfers we do that require man power to correct and paper supplies to take the test, a computer test might be a nice to have. Currently we can correct and issue the cert faster and cheaper by hand, but next year, we will be crushed by FSC test takers and the computer bank on the "wall over there " might come in handy. . . . . . . but hey wait a minute, That's another revenue stream. Tell you what, Send all your customers to me in January and I'll hook 'em up with an FSC card pronto!!!

I would be beyond happy if we could buy and print the cards as needed. The cards, trying to keep them in stock, and not tying up large amounts of money that sits in a drawer, is one of my major FFL headaches.
