    Consignment Buying

Hello, I have a quick question about buying a firearm on consignment. It is my first time buying a firearm on consignment and it really confuses me.

I bought a single shot shotgun at Tuners but they have to wait thirty days for the gun on consignment. I was still able to buy the firearm and they put it on hold till the DROS date which is on the 28th of July when i have to fill out the paperwork. I have several questions about this.

    1. What is the DROS when you fill out the paperwork?

    2. Is the background check separate from the DROS or is it the same thing?

    3. Do I still have to do the ten day waiting period before I pick it up?

    4. Why would it take 30 days on consignment?

    Thank you.

    1. Dealer record of sale and 4473.
    2. Same thing. Dros starts the background check.
    3. Yes, Dros starts the 10 days.
    4. You are waiting for the gun to clear the system. They have 30 days to determine if the gun is stolen.
