    Firearms Not Delivered Process

A customer failed to pickup his three firearms within the 30-day limit. Now what?

I assume I need to go to the DES site and cancel them, then fax the form BOF_958_DROS_Cancellation_Correction_012014_ALC.pd f for each of them.

    Is that correct?

What do I do with the 4473?

I don't believe you can cancel a DROS that is outside the 30 day limit. It is already cancelled by DOJ as you cannot release it.

Did you contact the customer? If not, inform him he needs to re-DROS the three guns, they can be put on the same DROS (assuming it won't violate 1 handgun per 30) but he needs to repay the fees. New 4473, new everything. Keep the old 4473, always keep it. Just void it.

The DROS still shows up but is marked as not deliverable because it's past the date.

I've been calling and leaving messages all week.

Cancel the DROS in the app. With the new system that works just fine and I have not needed to fax the form in. I keep any (problem" 4473's in a separate stack. At the end of the year they get their own little bag that goes in one of the boxes. ATF has been happy with this in the past at my place.

OK, so the forms don't need to be faxed if the DROS is cancelled online?

If you are with in 60 days of the day you submitted the DROS you can do it online.

I also attach a copy of the cancel notice to the 4473 that I put away.

Don't forget to check "Cancel" on the 4473 or you'll get knicked for that.

Seemed odd since 21c says "The response initially provided by NICS or the appropriate State agency was:"

The initial response was PENDING, then APPROVED, then CANCELLED after I cancelled it...but OK. I guess it has to go somewhere.

Yeah that is confusing..maybe it depends on your IOI that audits..mine told me to mark it as canceled rather than approved since you typically don't fill out 21c until the day of pickup.. and since they never picked up, by the time you fill it out, it's technically canceled, I suppose.
